Look absolutely doomed at the bottom of the league. Oh dear, what a shame, never mind.

I do hope no other club somehow takes advantage of their desperate plight.
We are not down there any more, I am looking at the top of the Prem most of the time Captain Low expectations.

Or the third option which is grateful to Gillingham for allowing the ground share, acknowledging that we had to pay to do that and having been a STH throughout our time at Gillingham and before…
All opinions are valid, there is no right or wrong

Ours are just very different

I have a feeling that Crawley didn't want us to attract bigger crowds than them at their own ground. They feared that some of their fans would switch allegiance to us.

I am not 100% sure about this but I was working in Crawley at the time and knew a fair few of their fans.

Dont worry, most of their fans would struggle to spell Brighton and couldn't find it on a map.

300k paid for three years, we were only there for two and Scally didn’t refund the third year..allegedly.

We were shafted by Gillingham, with Bellotti’s compliance, no doubt approved by Archer imo. All sorts of shit was going down at the time. Us folding no doubt being the preferred outcome from this ludicrous arrangement for home games.

If you are OK with it, that’s fine, doesn’t mean I have to be as well though.

Nasty club with a nasty owner at the time, getting into bed with our asset stripping owners at the time imo

I’d like @Lenny Rider take on this
Not often I disagree with you Icy, but on this I do.

I’ve a bigger problem with Charlton sending coaches and decimating our fan base, rather than the Gills, making a profit in our hour of need. At least it seemed transparent and it helped…..

Scally isn’t well regarded by most of their fans…..

'Allegedly' so in other words you don't know.

How do you know it was with Bellotti's 'compliance?' Were you party to the discussions? What sort of 'shit' was going down at the time?

So were Gillingham supposed to say 'yeah fine play here rent free?'

Nope, but I do wonder how many of you who are saying you were OK with it actually went to the Priestfield for two years every couple of weeks during the seasons we played there though, and lived through the shit that was going on with the club leading up to the groundshare.

All my opinions are based on personal experience at the time and the rumours about it

I have no problem with others being happy with how it was handled
Ring Ring Ring Ring: 'Hello Paul it's David Bellottii here, look our fans are really unhappy with the shit Brighton fans are going through, due to this is there any chance we could use Priestfield for free please?'

I’m guessing he’s taking the piss, I’m using Jills from now on when I text my eldest son who supports them (long story)
I hope they go down too and I will be straight on the phone :lolol:
Oh FFS man I expected better from you 🤦🏻‍♂️

No history lesson required from me, I'm fully up on Albion history.

Notice you didn't address the other points I made.

That’s was fecking cheeky of Chorlton ( intended )
But did it lead to long term support ? From Sussex
Were their gates anyway improved ?
perhaps short term Long term I’d doubt
But I don’t know 🧐

All of the removal of the articles of association stuff / the Goldstone site being sold for a ridiculously low sum of money / Archer intent on running the club into the ground etc etc was nothing to do with Gillingham, they simply allowed us to rent their ground from them.

I think we lost a generation of support, which arguably although likely, probably wasn’t helped by the Charlton opportunism.

We could've ended up playing at Millwall (the New Den), it was apparently DK's first choice. But I gather Theo Paphitis got a bit silly with his rent demands, so Scally it was.

100% on both counts
my reply was more a general enquiry to see
If people perhaps knew anybody who d been enticed upto the valley long term
personally I don’t
But I know of those that frequented Craven Cottage for their football fix
We even have a resident poster from the cottage

Was there some Met police involvement also that hindered that deal or am I mistaken ?
