And I suspect you'd knock Kuching in Sarawak on the head if I put that up.

However, in 73 we were the first european family to stay in a long-house we visited in the Jungle in Sarawak. Amazing experience for an eight year old spending the night with the Dayak family.

What did you think of Shenzen..... I went there about fifteen years ago and it can only have improved.


It depends what you mean as improved. It's huge, something like 16 million people live there and i didn't see a single low rise building. It feels though like a Western City (just full of Chinese people) and most of the people that I met were very well off. Got a feeling though thats it these sort of places where China is going to have problems when the next generation comes through.

When I went it was a huge building site with a couple of "tourist attraction" parks. Probably the worst place I have ever visited - the best part was the train back to Hong Kong.
