Is that the one on First Avenue? You could either walk up to Hove station or get a couple of buses.

Not walking distance at all.

Come into Brighton and have a friendly beer near the station first, and get a train from Brighton to Falmer.

No - you're not really within walking distance. You'll be better going by bus from Palmeria Square. Take any of the 5's ( 5, 5A, 5B ) to the Steine and then swap to a 25 to Sussex University. You'll spot the stadium once you're there. If you ask for a day ticket on the bus it will cost you £4 each for all the journeys.

Used to work at the Imperial and it's always been a reasonable hotel so enjoy the weekend ( result withstanding ! ).

I've just checked on the AA route finder and it's just over 6 miles so it depends on how used you are to walking. There is a good choice of buses at the top of First Avenue to the Old Steine and then get a 25 from there. The trains get fairly crowded from Hove and from Brighton so the buses are probably the best bet.

Do this.

Also loads of nice places to eat and drink in that bit of Hove so you'll be hard pressed not to have a good night if that's what you're after.

cheers billy the fish ye this is ideal we will be out in the evening any bars or pubs you recommend suitable to take the missus

Does the 5B not go all the way up to the Amex nowadays? I thought some of them did. That'd cost you £2 each way.

And if you're feeling really flush a cabbie mate says the fare is £18.

A fair few teams used to stay at the Imperial, not sure if they still do, remember seeing Notts County there and Chris Cattlin & Justin Fashanu going into the lounge for a chat before he signed. Who knows you may even get a ride on the team bus ))

At a guess I would go for £15-£20 one way for the cab. The buses are pretty good in the city so catch them and have more for beer ( and treating the better half  !!! ).

Myself and the wife stay there quite a bit, its a decent hotel, if your driving get there early as the parking is not easy, first come first served so to speak its all public parking but the hotel normally give a voucher to reduce it a bit, also be aware the traffic wardens are shit hot at the times the cars are not supposed to be there.

I thought it terminated at Asda at weekends ?? Either way, it's probably quicker to switch buses to the 25 just as long as you have the day saver ( or whatever it's called ).

The 5B only goes to the Universities Monday to Friday about 3 times in the mornings and 3 times in the afternoons.

Never saw a footie team when I worked there but we did have the Chippendales, Giles Brandreth ( sp ? ) and numerous BA air crew.
