That would work a treat for people like me. Some people don't cope well with real life. Well, cope with congenital arseholes. I work with a couple. One has lost out (although he wouldn't recognise this) because I have spent 35 years avoiding collaborating with him in research, owing to his inability to behave nicely. A sort of 'real life' on ignore :lolol:
The trouble is I find myself having to deal with people I despise with no option to ignore. It grinds you down

It makes me wonder how some cope with real life. A bit like sitting in a meeting where everyone wears earphones that cut out people they don’t want to listen to.
I suspect Bozza might have sent that idea to Apple for their next AirBuds update.

Never used it, tempted to but they usually get banned in time anyway. Besides isn't the ignore button a bit woke, cancel culture and all that?
Campaigning for the removal of a poster who hasn't triggered appropriate use of the 'report abuse' function would be a bit cancelly. But an individual putting another on ignore is simply the equivalent of making a note to not watch GB News.

Ah, yes. If that's the case, it would be horrible. My brother ('madder' than me) quit his job one fine Friday afternoon, because of this. It would be nice if the workplace made some contingency for cockwomblery, going forward. Having bananas thrown at you if you were a black player was 'all part of life's rich tapestry' not so long ago....times always change

Does this explain why you have never replied to my suggestion as to do a joint research paper on how long it would take to complete Pornhub?

I deal with people who owe money to the company I represent. The smug look on their faces when they refuse my every offer of compromise is infuriating as kicking the bin and storming out isn't an option.

I think I have two groups or people on ignore
- spammers (who may have since been banned/accounts removed) because it's quicker than waiting for the banning to be actioned sometimes.
- people who I can't stop myself replying to. It's about me removing that temptation that compels me to respond to whatever was posted, leading to me getting hung up on minor points, or wasting my time with people with whom engaging leads to nothing of any worth, rather than trying not to see them because of my perception of their value... if that makes any sense. Very much a "it's not you, it's me' kind of ignore.

Ouch.

OK, here is a thought. A lad who worked in my lab 20 years ago has set up business in Hungary (antiques). He has dealing all over Europe, including Russia (before Putin went batshit mental). Sometimes he has to confront people who are avoiding paying for what they have bought.

So he threatens to sell the debt to the Russian mafia. He told me this over lunch ten years ago. He had a momentary far-away look in his eyes as he said his, and a big grin, as if recalling the look on one of the poor sod's faces - who always then paid up immediately.

Could that be a plan?

Trouble is I'm currently dealing with the Battersea Power Station Development Company which is funded by a consortium of Malaysian investors, (who I'm sure operate strictly above board) :ninja:

More like having an interesting conversation with a group of people but one of them insists on talking over everyone, all the time, regardless of whether what the say actually adds to the conversation or not.

Isn’t the other change that putting people on ignore now means you don’t see their post at all (unless quoted). I think previously you would still see that they had posted but not the content of the post ? Or am I imagining this ?
No I think you are correct. To be honest I don't mind how it works now as I'm not ignoring the person replying and if I want to know what the ignored person has said I can always unhide it (that functionality had broken in the latter stages of vBulletin)
