The 48fps thing is definitely different, but I'm not sure if it is any worse or better than 24fps. For the first 5-10 minutes I did have a feeling that things were often moving too fast, but that soon went away and in general I thought that in general it looked really good. I'm also not fussed about it being over three films, although that might change after I've seen all three if there is too much padding.
It's not as epic as Lord of the Rings, and it seems to be aimed at a slightly younger demographic, but given that both of these things are true of the book as well I don't consider them detractors.
