We will know when we have truly arrived on the big [global?] stage when you can buy a Brighton shirt off the shelf in Sports Direct.

Years ago, when my 2 girls were little, every time we went in there I had to explain that they had sold out of Brighton shirts [again].

One day?

29 years ago I was travelling round India, and occasionally making an effort to get to an available telly late at night to watch a bit of the world cup. Often I was asked what team I supported and obviously "Brighton" just elicited blank states. Regardless I insisted/lied that while not Manchester United or Liverpool they were a significant club that they should take notice of.
It's odd to think that it's currently true.

They know who Brighton are now!

My cousin is an Ipswich fan and one time he had to entertain an American client. The guy asked what soccer team he supported, so to avoid explaining he said his second team - Spurs (as he had lived in the area for several decades. The American then revealed he had been in the US airforce in East Anglia as a young man and had watched Ipswich a lot and became a life long fan. My cousin felt such a Judas that he just nodded and felt shame burn through his very being.

Damn your misleading username.

I've never felt the English are particularly welcome in Ireland  Maybe it's just some parts, or some wrong'uns.
I imagine there are some specific places/people where there might be an issue, but since Malahide is where the Irish cricket team play I'd be surprised if it were a hotbed of anti-English sentiment.
Edit: I should add, everybody I've spoken to about Brighton in County Durham has been very positive.

So what you’re saying is we aren’t under the radar anymore?

Don’t think we’ll be seeing our shirts sold at the JD Sports at Gatwick Airport just yet, however the Japanese fans are making us feel like a global club.

Overheard a family on the seafront saying that they are going to support Brighton more next season, cause it’s just easier to go to the games with the kids, than going up to Arsenal. So the central Hove posse are catching on.
This is bad news for those of us in the cheap seats. Once PBOBE has done away with the free Travel Zone, he'll be looking at up-selling the North Stand

It's a London thing.....
People I know around here who support QPR, Watford, Fulham, Brentford and even Wealdstone, have all said complimentary things about the Albion.
The way they play, how the club is run and no entitlement.

I know there are a lot here, but don't assume that everyone from Brighton is.
I’d never assume that. I presumed, probably correctly, based on the “excitement” aspect.

Relax :)

Just had a text from my mate in Michigan USA and he someone at work was talking about the seagulls beating Wolverhampton 6 to nothing.
