"Cool Runnings"?

Great film, but not sure it really counts as a USA film. Filmed in Canada, about a Jamaican team in Canada, starring a Canadian (John Candy). So only partly USA at best.

That's handy cos I was going to give in on Cool Runnings.
Now I need a reason to deny Seabiscuit a place above TBNBears.

Oh and When We Were Kings, which actually is the greatest sports Film from the USA, doesn't count as it's a documentary.

Cool Runnings was SHIT.

Insulting, patronising, stereotyping, meaningless drivel.

But other than that it's pretty good, and I bet you still cry at the end.

'When We Were Kings'

Documentary on The Rumble in The Jungle in Kinshasa, Zaire in 1974. World Heavyweight champion George Foreman v former world champion and challenger Muhammad Ali.

Truly stunning. Won an Academy Award and everything.

Surely the greatest sports film from the USA is "Debbie Does Dallas"

When We Were Kings is a much better account of the Rumble In The Jungle, and you get the real fighters rather than people pretending to be them.

I saw a video of 'The Rumble in the Jungle' fight in a charity shop the other day for £1, and didn't buy it on the basis it was too expensive!

Kicking myself now

Some good choices - Any Given Sunday, Raging Bull, When We Were Kings in particular.

Personally I quite liked North Dallas Forty too. The script was by a former Dallas Cowboy, and the way they all carried on was highly believable.
