Messi, his balance is something I have never seen in any other player. I advise any football lover, if at any point in your life if you have the chance to see him play you must do it. Second to Messi, Vicente of course

No, sadly not. He was on the pitch on crutches for Lineker's last ever Spurs game (against Everton?) but I don't think that counts!

shame,he was a great player.

Hard to pick one! I would probably go for Ronaldo (Brazil), with Ronaldinho, Ronaldo (Portugal), Batistuta, Messi close behind.

Probably have to settle for Bobby Moore. Playing a youth international match against France in Eastbourne in 1958. A shilling to stand by the rope round the pitch if I remember rightly.

George Best, but I've also seen Maradona, Cruyff,Gascoigne and, defensively Bobby Moore, and Beckenbaur, they both had so much time, I've never seen better defenders

And as an afterthought ,Maldini, smooth as silk

My late father reckoned the best player he ever saw was Dennis law playing for Huddersfield when he first started out. He also saw Brian Clough destroy town and said he came a very lose second.

I really rated ossie ardiles as a brilliant player. Hoddle was brilliant as was Brady and martin chivers

Gotsmanov was absolute class as was Vicente.
