FWIW, the Observer's tipster, Eddie Fremantle, predicted this finishing order in last Sunday's paper:


1. Slim Pickings
2. Point Barrow
3. Silver Birch
4. McKelvey


So he had the first three home in his four selections, at 33-1, 12-1 and 33-1.
The trifecta paid 18,000-1.

Eddie does the newspaper column as a sideline, for the last 15 years his main income has come from punting. I'm beginning to understand why...
