So Mads Hermansen (and most of the goalkeepers in the division) are better than World Cup winner (golden gloves dry humper) and Yashin Trophy winner Emiliano Martinez.

Granted he’s a total cock but Martinez being almost bottom of that list shows the futility of comparing just one stat in isolation.

Goalkeepers make mistakes, some more than others.
Part and parcel of the game, please name one goalkeeper that has never made a mistake.
Yes but in terms of mistakes leading to goals against I believe verbruggen is up there maybe as number one this season. (Someone needs to dig out the stat but it was said in commentary recently)

I agree with your final statement, but Martinez has been poor this season. If he carries on as he is, I don't think Villa will keep him for next season.

I really like Verbruggen, I think he's an excellent goalkeeper and our best in the PL era but he's in a bad run of form at the moment and really needs to work out what he's doing with his kicking. He needs to take significantly fewer risks.

I think goalkeepers are judged very differently now and as a result really good goalkeepers are a rarity. If you're a good shot stopper you generally get told your kicking needs improving and vice versa. How many keepers in the premier league are considering good at both? Not many.

Pretty damning.

I'd say the explanation of the context is pretty damming in respect of it's intended scientific nature of measuring something:

"FBREF explains that positive numbers suggest better luck or an above-average ability to stop shots."

So it could therefore theoretically be argued that Bart's low score could be down to being unlucky and not as lucky as those higher up the list

According to the PL stat site, Bart is third with 4 mistakes. Joint first are Muric of Ipswich and Robert Sanchez with 5 each. Onana is one behind Bart with 3.

The most annoying thing about Bart is his unwillingness to EVER play a quick ball after he has collected the ball from an opposition shot. It really irritates me because it means we never have a fast counter attack with most of the opposition in our half. He also persists with putting his foot on the ball and doing nothing even when it’s obvious the opposition aren’t going to try and close him down.
