It's a lovely day. Why not get outside? There are some excellent walks in Sussex.Tiny adaptions, Zeb.
'Let your voices ring my boys' becomes 'with voices all in one accord, take the time from me'
You could do any number of small adaptions that strengthen the original and uphold its theme and Edwardian style.
After all, Ward-Higgs was a Londoner anyway and missed some things. 'We wunt be druv' could easily be shoe-horned into the original.
'for we wunt be druv, as we sound our love, for Sussex-by-the sea'
I'm quite happy with the original though, but I've changed my mind on new adaptions, as long as they are better and don't take anything away from the song's era, pride and resonance. Being a lover of Wesleyan style anthems, and a Sussex man of great loyalty, I reckon I could smash Ward-Higgs out the ground on this- unlike Sussex yesterday
Shortly I'll be off to Deal to cycle along the sea front.
Toodle pip.
