Less than 20 hours between matches. Can anyone ever recall this happening, just crazy

Sat 3pm to Mon 12.30pm, or have I missed something?
Yes, it's more than 20 hrs as stated by the OP. Still not great though as less than 48 with the early kick off

It wasn't that long ago that they used to play Good Friday, Easter Saturday & Easter Monday, so not sure what the problem is. The team will certainly be flying to and from the Newcastle game so they will almost definitely be home before most fans have got back to London.

Bournemouth at home to Everton at 3 on 30th (and also playing on Boxing Day), so there's not a big difference between our fixtures and theirs, which is what really matters. With a bit of luck, our squad has got a chartered flight from Worthing to Newcastle, which will make the difference even more negligible.

Going back further in the 50s Christmas Day usually 12 noon kick off and Boxing Day 3pm kick off . If a Saturday came between then and New Years Day a game on the Saturday and again on New Years Day so possibly 4 games in 7 or 8 days.

It was quite a long time ago though, wasn't it?

Never thought of flying from Worthing before, do they do cheap flights

When you say not long ago ..it’s been a fair number of years now ..how many do you think?
