Just received the email below. Anyone read The League Paper regularly?

A good step or a backward one with the inclusion of the Premiership?

Hi Guys

I trust you are well. As you may have heard as of Sunday November 12th The League Paper and The Non-League Paper and will be amalgamating to form a fantastic 120 page paper simply called The Football Paper.

I am sure you will agree that this makes a very interesting piece for your website or as topic for a new forum thread.

Suggested text for this would be

In one of the most exciting developments in sports publishing, The League Paper and The Non-League Paper will be amalgamating to form The Football Paper from Sunday November 12th.

The League Paper lovers will still have 56 pages containing extensive coverage of the Football League, with the addition of Premiership match reporting and news plus a view of the Scottish and Irish scene. They will also receive a self-contained 64-page Non League Paper newspaper so that they can keep up to date with all their local teams. The cover price for this 120-page tabloid newspaper will be £1.50.

Simon Burrell, managing director of BHT Media, owners of The Non-League Paper and The League Paper, said: "This is an exciting and logical development of the two brands."

David Emery, editor in chief and founder editor of The Non-League Paper in 2000, said: "For the first time football fans will be able to receive complete coverage of the national game in one package.

"We are securing the services of several fine columnists who will bring incisive comment, expert analysis and some wit to Sunday mornings.

"We are mindful that our very loyal Non-League and League Paper readers must continue to receive the high standard product they demand and we assure them everything will be in place as before - they will simply have double the pages of football to read if they choose to do so."

Seems like a good move. Means you can read up on Crawley, Lewes, Eastbourne easily.

I still think this country needs a quality sports daily.

A full on football paper is a good idea but will it really be any more in depth than the usual pull out supplements in the Sunday papers?

And £1.50 hardly seems bargainous value considering you can get a full on Sunday broadsheet with all the trimmings for the same price

In a way, it's a shame. Always liked having a more or less Premiership-free bit of paper to read- if by some miracle I need more of Jose Mourinho or Arsene Wenger sulking I can buy any of the sunday rags.

But so long as the football league coverage doesn't suffer, I guess it's ok.

I think that it is a good move so long as it does not become a premership paper

The good thing about the League paper is that it does tend to give every match a full n proper right up rather than a short column.

means you no longer have to read two different papers - seems a good idea to me

the league paper gives a good write up and analysis on all matches, with the introduction of the premership i hope it wont make league matches/non league match write ups smaller allowing a 10 page review of Chelsea's every pass

It's a great read - only 30p more to read about the non-league scene seems pretty good value.
