But Dave Turner was my first player that I remembered after my first game.

They're about the first three I remember watching. Much clearer memories are of the whole team: a little later: 1964? Powney, Henderson, Baxter, Bertolini, Gall, Turner, Gould, Collins, Bobby Smith, Jack Smith and Goodchild.

Johnny ‘Flobber’ Goodchild - I was warned to not stand on the first five steps of the Chicken Run (East Terrace). It’s all in the name!

Sammy Nelson.

He happened to play left back and the first game I went to I was in the chicken run and we were attacking the south stand so he was the player nearest to me. Kevin Keegan played in the game as well, for Southampton, it must have been 1982.

Stood out in a 6-0 win over Colchester, my first Albion game.

I should also mention Dave Hollins. He married my cousin Jackie and used to stand between a couple of jumpers in Queens park for me and my mates to take pot shots. Happy days.

Terry Connor - looked like a shorter Otis Redding.

There may have been earlier players, but Terry Connor was the first name I thought of when I saw the question.

Graham Moseley as I was awful at football but thought I was good in goal and he quickly became the one I wanted to be.
Also Steve Foster (pre head band/towel days) sticks in my mind.
My Brother ( who could play football) would probably say Lawro and Ward, although his opinion doesn't matter as he used to wear a Spuds shirt to games!
