The stewarding is atrocious, mostly students from the Uni just there to pick up 20 quid. I know there's probably some requirement with regards stewards/fans but there always seem to be so many of them as well, mostly having a chat blocking stairways. The one's in charge are no better, when I had the pleasure of sitting next to two Leeds fans a few weeks ago, the 'stand manager' smiled and gave them the thumbs up at the end of the game. I asked why he was allowed to sit there and I was told in no uncertain terms it was none of my business and away fans are fine in the North Stand as long as they don't wear colours.

This bit is the most annoying part of it all.. half time bustle up/down stairs and they consistently stand in the way, oblivious to the queue the are causing...

That happened at the NS block D entrance at the end of half time in the CP derby, 3 or 4 young stewards standing directly at the top of the steps, blissfully unaware of the mayhem they were causing. Until the experienced steward came running over to bollock them.

If they're "football tourists" (which is highly possible), then they won't be overly fussed with a ban – this was probably their first and only visit to the Emirates/Old Trafford/Stamford Bridge etc etc anyway.

Did any of them get a shirt? Because if they did it just means more divs will be trying it at future matches.

Well if we're going 'there".

Our Steward in the Family Stand is great.
Been there since day one.
Firm but fair with an added touch of gruff to guarantee he's not approachable - perfect.

He was also the steward in the family stand at Withdean. He gets it.

"It was interesting this week to see the fascination on social media with close-up clips of the celebrations after Tottenham’s 3-2 win at Leicester.

This stuff is very popular right now. The digital eye has detected a hunger out there, a shared sweet spot for footage of unbound emotion, feelings-porn: players and fans lost in the moment, Antonio Conte baying and leaping and glowering like a bear startled by a hornets’ nest.

In a more professional guise I should probably be talking here about how worrying this is, what a red flag it is to see people piling over the advert boards, uncontrolled “intruders” and so on. But that would be a lie, because it didn’t feel worrying. It felt great. Feed me more of this. Stick that spike in my arm and juice me up with Lucas Moura leaping on the back of a steward and waving at the crowd. These are feelings. And feelings are the good thing.

It seems as though something has clarified around this recently. There has for some time been a vague fear that this will stop happening, that this shared spectacle will become instead cold visual product, managed entertainment, that the feelings, which are essentially what we have left, will just stop happening. Little wonder when it goes off like that the reaction is visceral and moreish."

Great piece. This bit is also relevant......

What is the point, really, of trying to succeed as Everton Football Club? What is the point of a league where monied stasis is the goal of almost all of its members? How can I feel that deep connection to a diffuse global company sponsored by an unlicensed betting portal that secretly dreams of relocating to the metaverse? Perhaps this is why there is so much free-floating rage out there, the hunger to see bias and conspiracies, the obsession with trivia and celebrity, the skittish collectivism of the online herd. These are essentially ghost-feelings, reflexes, emotional muscle memory, like a dog kicking its legs in its sleep.

Sums up exactly what I feel about the Premier League and, while we might have a fan in charge the rest could be about us,

If you allegedly chuck a smoke bomb & then at the next match wander onto the pitch (by accident or not) & therefore pretty much give yourself up to the authorities - you are getting banned. Probably for life. V sad & stupid
