I sympathise that he has to start all over again - it wasn't his fault that he was allowed to use that field.

This comment seems to be typical of the view of the public:

"I don't know what all the fuss is about. The stadium probably wont get built anyway due to costs - none of which will be met by the local councils. And if it does get built, so Moulscoomb loses a cabbage field or two. It's hardly an area of outstanding beauty."

I have heard this twice last night.

I almost whacked a builder down in town a few years ago who was working on the Pavilion. After I mentioned Albion's need for a stadium in a pretty off-hand comment, he said, "I hope they go out of business. Why should we give them a stadium? It's going to cost me a fortune. I support Arsenal anyway". . I did tell him, of course, that it wouldn't actually cost him a penny and what could anyone in their right mind object about. And I think the word "twat" may have sneaked in there somewhere too. The level of ignorance the Albion have had to overcome is astonishing.

The Arsenal stadium is going to put people out of business. They will be compensated.

However, this does not apply to the Falmer field which is unproductive land. There will be more work for a groundsman's assistant than a farmer.

The manager of the land can choose what to do with it. Something useful.

It is better to pay someone dole money that subsidised practices for ruining the environment like ploughing up unsuitable downland and excessive grazing by cattle.

This Arsenal attitude which is what made their fans intolerable a season or so ago, and is worse behaviour than demonstrated by most ex-pat (Londoners that moved down to Sussex) Palace supporters.

We only ever won two games at Highbury (I think?)

But nevertheless his landlord is serving notice on him, and it isn't like he's not had several years inkling that it was going to happen.
