england national football is just a franchise now and has been for a while. £40 to watch a friendly and about that much for a burger too, its amazing. they play all the 'heroes' to get bums on seats - simple as that. why play beckham in a friendly, its a joke.

the players dont care either, its all about their image rights and again, to get more money. not many of the england team are that smart anyway and most spend all their fortunes on themselves on 'showy things' anyway.

the premiership and top level football sold out ages ago, just look who owns the big clubs now; people who do not care about football or tradition. the champions league is all set up so the richest teams get to the last 8 too.

sorry, but much of 'football' is near dead unless you are from the home counties wearing a beckham shirt, and loaded.

i dont really care too much any more how england do, because it is just a business to the FA, and most of the £ they do make does not go to grass roots, but out of the country to foreign managers who again, don't really give a shit.

supporting england at the moment is a mugs game.

rant over.

cue flaming.

Its getting harder and harder to argue convincingly against this point of view.

Couldn't have put it better, the Albion is the only thing that just about keeps me remotely interested in watching football nowadays!

I agree with all of you opinions, except that I believe that the players do care and want to win. The fact of the matter is that they're just not good enough to do so.
