if yardy gets in the team we will have a team full of batsmen that knock the balls round for singles, will not work especially in power plays, as the last 2 games against new zealand have proved

need big hitters, loye will be good, maybe james benning is worth a look. we need a mix of big hitters and touch players

Loye
Vaughan (c)
Bell
Pieterson
Collingwood
Flintoff
Yardy
Read (wk)
Mascheranhas
Kirtley
Anderson

Not that I think he is a great keeper (same issues as Jones), but you could stick Prior in there as he is a decent enough batter.

This is true but I like Read, he's gritty.

Would Prior open the batting though, due to the power plays? I don't like him up there, he hasn't performed well enough for England when opening.

I they bring Banger back, you could use him and Solanki there as they can score quickly.

If one gets out during the power play, move either Prior or Freddie up the order as a pinch hitter.

Kirtley hasn't got a sniff of playing for England again

Shame.

13 @ 19.53 in the Pro40
14 @ 22.57 in the C&G

were good returns considering his action has been altered.

As Uncle Buck says, we need a tight bowler at the death in the mould of Gough, if they are not going to play him. Someone who can pitch it up in the block hole.

Just chuckling at Charlton
The way i see it we have had 4 years to prepare for this World Cup and the England mis-management are still blooding new players trying to get what they feel is the best side! How much time do they want?

If you are playing Loye now you have to stick with him at the WC, if you have called up Ravi Bopara us the bloke not just let him keep a seat warm!

Look at Australia they have known the crux of their one day team for 18 months now, the only question mark for them is if Shane Watson is fit to replace Cameron White.

That is true. Which means I would then open with Strauss and Solanki (keep coming back to him as I do not understand why he has been dropped).

Totally agree Solanki has to be scratching his head wondering what he has done to upset Fletcher & Co. They pissed the bloke about when he was in the squad as well, opener, number 3 and then coming in a t 7!

Sums up the debacle that is England One Day cricket IMO

the england management have said they have been preparing for the world cup for at least 3 years
the ICC trophy was shocking, this ODI series is going badly, and there is only 2 months left to sort a mess that should have been sorted for the ICC trophy last november

i think our only saving grace in the world cup will be that there are no day/night games, as we seem to be shocking under lights
