I hope you're right - problem being, isn't that what we thought Oscar was going to bring ?

*we* thought he would, he apparently didnt. i dont think the focus on possession will go, there will be more emphasis on moving the ball foward and into channels.

Long periods of possession at walking pace in our half resulted in season ticket not being renewed, decided to go on a match to match basis when the one man up front was ditched, result no attendance at the stadium last season and quids in pocket.

Well if by some miracle it got us right to the top of the table and playing storming football old style and the fans were excited, finally, and the atmosphere finally came of age at the Amex, and we travelled with an away average of 2,500 over the season, would you come out of retirement and venture down to Falmer,as the mighty seagulls went toe to toe with all the envious big boys of the league? both home and away..be great wouldn't it

nice little dream there, but this is my hope, some passion and desire at least from the team..

Yes, that was EXACTLY what he said! What we got instead were players who forgot how to retain possession and pass the ball. I could never understand why OG wanted to change the way we played, it worked perfectly well under Poyet apart from the fact that until we signed Ulloa we couldn't convert our dominance into goals.

Were you expecting us to go straight through this division?

Presumably win the Premier League the following season and the Champions League the next?

You need to be a bit patient.

PS. Pressing your caps lock again turns it off.

Sami strikes me as a better communicator and more dynamic than the ever miserable Garcia and he also apoears less of an egocentric cock than Poyet so with his obvious experience and pedigree i am hoping this will be the time we now kick on and have a real go at promotion. With at least 6-8 players likely to come in before the start of the season this is going to be exciting!

I'm hoping this is another transition , mixing it up with the formation changing to hammer home an advantage or adapting to opposition pressure. Possession doesn't mean anything if the players aren't keen to win the ball back after losing it. We need to show more fortitude on the pitch and not be scared to play dirty when its needed.

Last season we had too many powder puff players who couldn't stand up to or make a decent challenge and I think we need a bit more of that to get out of the championship.

Spot on sir! Maybe Sami can teach Leo how to frustrate defenders without falling over or calling for a booking.

Gus laid the foundations, the fact that our players should be encouraged to retain possession was the reason we won the league 1 title, however as we go higher up the pyramid the players get better stronger and fitter.

We should be able to player the ball comfortably at the back but also on occasion put some snow on the football if required.

We do not have the finance to compete at present with the mega money signings so for me it's all about getting a real team spirit going,if Sami can get the players to really want to play for him then that is going to stand us in good stead,we need to be able to break faster and be comfortable on the ball and that requires a bit of "tippy tappy" only at a faster pace and going forward, and not to get on players backs if the passes go astray...

Also agree wholeheartedly with this.
However if we are hoping for faster pace going forward with less passes going astray should Sami be realistically looking to release Greer? I'm quite surprised this hasn't been discussed in more depth here

I hope we don't become too direct, but it'd be nice to see us counter attack as if we meant it.

Absolutely what he said!
