Also not only has he dumped us for a "richer" club, he made us beg him to stay and then went anyway.

.

Apparently turned down the 1st offer and stayed over the w/e just in case they didn't come back with a bigger offer.

Would have looked a right wanker if he'd resigned and then Reading hadn't come back with a 2nd offer.

Staying to finish the job eh Steve - what a load of bollocks:angry:

I feel let down. With all that waffle in the summer about honouring Blackwells contract even though he hadn't signed it - well it's different when it comes to you, isn't it Steve.

He is a great manager, but not as great a man as I thought.

You have expressed my feelings exactly Lush :(

Steve Coppell= excellent manager, but

One of the most miserable men ever to run this club, and who has repeatedly complained about the fans not making enough noise/making too much noise/telling him what to do or not to do/ criticising players etc. Name a football ground where nobody ever complains about anything?

Hate to tell you this Steve, but if you're have a problem with graveyard-atmosphere stadiums or criticism from grumpy prawn sandwich merchants, boy are you in for a shock when you scurry off up the M4.

In fact, Coppell has always complained about how some people never got over his Palace connections: the more I think about it, the more crap that is.

Who is the one who repeatedly complained about the crowd responses at Withdean? What's up, Steve, did we not compare to Selhurst? Maybe it wasn't us who had the Palace hang up....

Coppell has let us down badly, I cant believe hes not even waiting to find out the decision on Falmer.

I sincerely hope he has nothing but failure at Reading and capitulates under the pressure Madjeski will put him under. VD ridden Palace wanker!

I don't remember Withdean ever having "atmosphere" or the like, as you say, but the only problem with the MadStad fans is that we don't sing enough when losing. When we're winning the noise is quality... and many away fans have agreed. Nottingham Forest loved us last year in that game on TV. Ditto Wolves... didn't hear a peep out of them. But then there's Rotherham 0-0, and you can hear a pin drop (or even a prawn sarnie).

Its just that the expecations down here are very high, and its down to Madejski stressing that he wants us in the Premiership very soon, and if we don't appear to deliver, then the fans' expectations remain at that level. Sad but true.

By the way, Coppell hasn't left yet! Though if he does, remember this. The banging on about "loyalty" with SC can be answered by talking to Man City fans about him. I don't think any manager bar Dario Gradi can proclaim to be loyal in this day and age.

I think there was more to him leaving Man City than simply running off to the first club who offered him more money.

I never said Withdean had a great atmosphere, it's just not designed to generate noise is it, merely that Coppell constantly complained about the supporters.

Way to win people's support, Steve!

Pardew always complained about the home support, but constantly said that our fans away from home were great, travelled in some of the best numbers he'd seen, and made loads of noise... he always wanted them 3,000 odd to multiply in the home games and use their effect... but it hardly ever worked. Whenever the home atmosphere was great, Pardew would praise it and say that we all made a difference. He was fighting a bit of a losing battle though...

I don't think we're alone in thinking that the home crowd is quiet. Most clubs have this problem, surely?

End the speculation - it's happened. As Soton Seagull says, the decision has been made. Trust me. He's going today. End of.

Let's just hope the team stays together.

Exactly, he's gone, let's just concentrate on getting the right man to replace him now.
