Mmm. I'm not convinced at at by this series. I'm a huge fan of the original film and this is just a poor update. I think my biggest issue is that every single disguise the master mimic Jackal uses all sort of look like Eddie Redmayne to varying degrees. Old Eddie, bald Eddie etc...
My thought was that he has no excuse to phone it in on Halloween.

I suppose there was a spolier already built in to the original feature film as we already knew that de Gaulle didn't die by assassination, but despite that knowledge it still managed to maintain the tension.

Whereas the TV series doesn't feature a real life character as the target.
No - but it does feature an anagram of the real life character!

4 waters and 4 bags of nuts for €30, he’d struggle with meeting his objectives at the Amex, crawling around in the floor space under the Heineken lounge covered in the dust of “unlimited small plates”

Sky has renewed The Day Of The Jackal - its modern take on Frederick Forsyth’s classic espionage novel.

Series one starred Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch, it tells the story of an unrivalled and highly elusive lone assassin, the Jackal, who makes his living carrying out hits for the highest fee. But following his latest kill, he meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer who starts to track down the Jackal in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe, leaving destruction in its wake.

Meghan Lyvers, Executive Director of Original Scripted, Sky UK and Ireland, said: “We are thrilled by the phenomenal global reception of The Day of the Jackal. This series has captivated audiences with its propulsive storytelling, epic scope, and unforgettable performances from Eddie Redmayne, Lashana Lynch, and Úrsula Corberó. Becoming Sky’s biggest Original to date is a true reflection of the passion, dedication, and masterful artistry poured into every scene.”

I'm going to be a right misery here but I've gone off it.

I wanted to love it and enjoyed the idea of cheering for the baddie. I thought it was filmed very well and was exciting as the net was drawn in.

He was a perfect killing machine able to go anywhere and get to anyone.

But then for me he became sloppy. He has killed some randoms and clearly left a trail back to himself. (his DNA will be all over Rasmus flat etc).

But the thing that really annoyed me is how easily Zina found him. he is supposed to be impossible to find yet there she was in his hotel room (sorry if that was an early spoiler)

So now I want him to be caught and are now team Bianca.

The film was good, but, not as good as the book.

First one of Fred’s I read, i then read everything he did up until about 15 years ago, he started to lose it by then.
