Might be an age thing, ie I missed it 😂, but there seemed to be a plot hole, never told us what happened to his ‘spotter’ from the Army, they both walked away in the Afghanistan flashback bit, then both presumed dead which enabled them to become international hit men.
It wasn't really explained how he walked away from the car crash near the end either. That was done impact on his side...

Have to admit i have been a bit under whelmed by it, I was expecting more.

Not sure hes the guy for this role, I cant warm to him at all, which is what was the kicker with this.

You know he's a killer but a likeable killer... and I just don't get that.

You need Michael Fassbender in The Killer on Netflix, brooding, understated assassin of few words.

We just said that in the office, its not like the emergency services in Spain aren't going to look in his bag, and find multiple passports, a couple of shooters and a shit load of currency.

That's not a plot hole. That's just something they didn't cover. They didn't cover what The Jackal ate for breakfast either. That also wasn't a plot hole.

That said, I expected a flashback where we'd see his spotter getting pissed when he realized what The Jackal had done, and The Jackal snapping his neck and then crying about it. Maybe that'll come up in season 2.

Plot armor. It's very common in many movies and shows (especially action films). You just have to go with it. The (anti-)hero usually survives half a dozen mishaps that would 100% kill or incapacitate any normal person in real-life.

Binged all 10 episodes across 2 days and very much enjoyed it. Recommended.

Finished it yesterday and thought it was excellent. Don’t understand the criticism of ER, I thought he was great. People finding him a bit cold- he’s a f***ing hitman! What did you want, a big-hearted hero?

Thought Bianca was a bit of a crap character but apart from that, it was great. Wish we found out what happened to his mate he escaped the army with though.

My main disappointment was this. Guessed they had planned how the season would end so didn't bother to develop the character more but was a bit rubbish.

I've just watched the final episode (no spoilers) and thought the whole series was very good. There will be the inevitable comparisons with the film and Edward Fox but I think both stand on their own and as such can be enjoyed separately
I tried watching the original last week. It’s a total snooze fest compared to this, I thought.

Spoiler alert, and hence the announcement of Series 2, who's he actually working for?
Top of his agenda is finding his wife and child. But next on his list will be Winthrop (the Charles Dance character). The Jackal does not take too kindly to not getting paid. It damages 'the brand'.

After that, well there's always someone looking for a job to be done. Send him after Putin, that'd be a goodun.

I almost got the feeling that, rightly or wrongly, Bianca was almost there to appease the present day TV execs, a strong woman of colour, from the streets, fought her way up to be at the sharp end of MI5/6, then the writers said we've ticked all the boxes now, so lets kill her off.

I'm not sure a better dynamic would have been the Jackal pursued by someone of his ilk, maybe someone he worked with previously in the forces, almost the classic battle between good and evil?

Series 2 will no doubt answer the question about his mate, and Charles Dance probably won't make Series 3.

I got none of these feelings. I guess we see what we want to see and create the narratives in our heads that we want to create. I certainly don’t imagine you would be writing your post if she wasn’t a black woman.

I thought it was inevitable she’d die the moment she left her kid to go after him. It was the only logical conclusion.

Yes of course that's what happened. No way in this day and age could that character have been a white man, or indeed the jackal been a black woman. Not sure that's why she was killed off though, think that was just part of the storyline.

I thought the first 3 or 4 episodes were really good, and went down hill from there. Felt 10 episodes was too many, and towards the end I was just fast forwarding the bits with the MI6 lady and her family. Won't bother with the second series.
