Main point remains though: it's not something I've noticed from WSU (and I note from the thread you posted other people from there said it was no problem) so do different parts of the ground have different lighting? That seems rather strange to me.

It's always been apparent to me, as a fellow WSUer, that the East wing is 'gloomy'. Not so much that there's any difficulty identifying players or following the game, but it is dark over there.

I watched 10 games last season from the back row of the WSL, and the rest from my seat in the back row of the East. As such, I was exactly the same distance from the pitch, on each side.

I can state categorically, that for evening games, it was more difficult seeing the far (East) side of the pitch from the West, then the other way round. The lighting level is definitely NOT the same.

Shhhhh! The West Stand mafia don't like admitting they are in an inferior stand at the best of times.

Fair enough. Not seen it before but I'm not on NSC every day so missed these.

Always looks dim on the east side from the WSU to me.

From the East it looks fine on all parts of the ground. Which is probably because the dullness is not picked up close to where we are sat and it doesn't seem dull the west side from the east.

I took this pic last night. I remember there was an issue last season where the corners of the pitch on the East side were very gloomy and insufficiently lit, so they added those lights you can see separated from the main "arc" on the far right (they've done the same in the NE corner as well).

Amazed they didn't get this right from the off. And I agree, the Amex still does seem slightly dimmer than at other grounds.

I did wonder if it was the over-hang from the upper tier which was blocking the light from getting to the pitch and causing the illuminating of the seats, whatever the reason it did seem dark over there.

I can't see any difference in brightness/darkness anywhere on the pitch from the north stand.

I appreciate that old fashioned floodlight pylons don't really work in modern stadia but I used to love spotting floodlight pylons from a distance, be it at the Goldstone or on on the road. Plus the pylons made a great navigation aid, especially when lit up for night games at some gloomy northern location when to ask directions could mean a thump to the head!

I can still identify all of the players from the back of the WSU and I think the lower lighting would make it look more intimidating for away fans on dark nights, so I quite like it!

All sorted :clap2:

Absolutely fine last night. Much brighter than last season - the lighting is now uniform right across the pitch.
