You would have thought so but Sunderland went down and sold Pickford for 30 million. Unbelievable price.

I think this is very harsh how we're all laughing at Palace. Would we do the same if it was Woking or Lewes playing in the Prem? So why laugh at Palace? It's actually extraordinary how a club of their size with such few fans and with an embarrassing stadium have somehow managed to get to the Prem. They will be a very proud club once they're back to normality, dealing with constant administrations. Their fans will be able to tell their grandkids how they spent over 30m on Benteke and how they managed to formulate one of the greatest team of mercenaries football will ever see. Good on them.

...... Then again, maybe it won't. But I would like to see the account of Aguero being in Lewis Dunk's pocket and de Bruyne's creativity being smothered by Dale Stephens.
I'm not sure they say things in those terms up in Croydon though, do they? Just reach for that big red "Administration" button under the desk and away you go again.

"His distarous run of 6 wins in a calendar year, I thought it can't get worse than this. How wrong was I. Never felt so disconnected from the club as I do right now. Nothing to cheer. Players don't give a flying f***. Squad depth embrassingly thin. Steve parish has overseen this shoddy mess. It's time he step aside. I didn't expect a win today but if the 1st half performance was replicated in the 2nd half, then you can't complain but the attitude and cowardness arose as soon as that 2nd goal went in. Team of overpaid spineless individuals. 5 years wasted for what a lack of investment in the squad this summer.
What a mess we're in."

I think we might all be getting carried away with their pisspoor start to the season.
Palace are managing the trickiest of situations here, namely improving their ground and their training facilities whilst remaining competitive in the toughest league in the world. It's only taken 5 years but I think so far, it's three out of three in my opinion, so let's not be too quick to take the piss eh? ��

Infrastructure spend never happened, nor have they saved for future builds. The training ground and stadium plans never took off or were blocked by planners.
Instead they've spent collosal sums, all their income, over several windows on fees and huge wages. Liverpool have done particularly well, relieving them of £60m.
