Late notice received this afternoon that youngest Potting's college exam tomorrow has been cancelled - she is distraught (not!). Oldest Potting (me) delighted that he hasn't got to kill 2+ hours waiting in the cold for her to finish.

14.55m vaccinations worldwide - closer to 15m if you include updated UK figures which aren’t being included yet on website I’m using to track this.
India are getting involved soon, and they have a lot of doses already made.

Whitty said tonight if vaccination goes well we may be able to ease many of the restrictions through spring and near normality near summer and restrictions would not need to be reintroduced until next winter.

Mrs Peteinblack started her secondment this morning as a COVID vaccinator in Bath - and as a key-worker, received her first jab at 8.45
I’m in the process of doing the E-Learning modules for the vaccinator role. I hoped I would get a vaccine for the job, but as I healthy 28 year old I wasn’t sure whether they’d give me one. Do you know if they have vaccinated all the vaccinators? It would be strange not to - you’ve got to eat your own dog food, as a **** I used to work with used to say.
It seems to me reading a lot of the above and elsewhere the capacity is there to jab, how confident are we that the actual vaccine itself can be produced in the numbers mentioned to keep up with demand?
Apparently around 4.5m Pfizer doses also - have been 22 deliveries now. Not sure why this isn’t being trumpeted a little more.

I’ve heard they all practise on one another initially with 12 inch needles to help with accuracy ..you probably end up with arms like a piece of Swiss cheese

Swiss Cheese!!! When you mentioned 12 inch needles I assumed that was the length, not the width!

I'd hope they would, as the very role places you at a higher risk of encountering an infected person (or unknowingly infecting someone before the vaccine takes effect), but they might decide that a healthy 28-year old doesn't need it. I really hope that this is not their decision.
My wife has (occasional) very mild asthma and is somewhat older than you, so was deemed to be in a higher risk category, but I think the policy is that as many staff as possible who are involved in the vaccination team should themselves be vaccinated first. It would hardly be good for fostering a strong sense of team spirit and mutual trust if some of the staff involved were vaccinated but others weren't.
