Ummm this is I think kind of retrospective good news for April...I know I’m stretching it a bit ..provisionally it was the sunniest April since records began...it might be said that it got too many people out on Brighton seafront ...but surely it helped thousands enjoy their walk/cycle/run ....their queue for shopping more than if we’d had the weather we experienced during Winter...and having the sun out does by itself sometimes lift our spirits

Finally managed to log on and book a delivery just now.

I've been trying many times over the last few weeks but every time 'computer said no'.

The "good news" here is that there are loads of delivery and click/collect slots around now. Just not necessarily with your preferred provider. I got a Saino's click and collect at very little notice on Friday last week and we have one delivery a week lined up for the next three weeks, although it goes Waitrose / Tescos / Asda. Just do a proper net search (according to Mrs GB)

We’ve managed to get a C&C or home delivery by Tesco in BH every 5-6 days without too many problems. Seems to be a release of times around 2pm most days for some reason. Planning meals a few days ahead (never been so organised! ) has meant that frequency basically does us for everything we need...........supplemented with the occasional takeaway and home delivery from Piglets of course (the Red Leicester sausage rolls are just fantastic)

Saw an article on the BBC t'other day about a website that flags up available slots across multiple supermarkets in your local area. Looks like a useful kind of thing to have at hand

I wouldn't be surprised if that's what she's using. There is a very specific deal in our house - she buys it, I cook it.

No matter how bad things are, spring always makes things far better

April was pretty shit, if we’re honest.

May is here now, and things should continue getting better.

Yes, covered on the main Coronavirus thread but worth repeating - another indication that far more people could have had this already than we realise.

London’s Nightingale Hospital is effectively being wound down after taking no new patients in the past week.

Staff were told today that a decision on its future would be made within days.

The field hospital, built in just 10 days at the start of April, had only 19 patients on Friday, down from a peak of around 35 earlier in the month.

London hospitals are increasingly choosing to keep patients in their own intensive care units.

One source said London’s Nightingale was in effect being “wound down”, with staff from the Royal London Hospital, who were due to be seconded to work there, told they were no longer needed on Friday due to the small numbers of patients.

The situation has been replicated across the country: none of the other Nightingale hospitals in Birmingham, Manchester or Harrogate have patients
