Second doses up noses?

On a serious point, there are a percentage, who won't have the vaccine due to it being an injection.

Nasal option might mean take up goes up ... just by a fraction of a %, but it all counts

More significamt I imagine would be how quickly and how easily it could be administered. For poorer countries especially, this could make a very big difference, although there is clearly a lot more proving of the pudding to be done to know if it really works!

Interesting, it says within the Govt plan

Three of the seven candidates in the VTF vaccine portfolio are being manufactured in the UK: AstraZeneca’s adenoviral vaccine, Valneva’s whole virus
vaccine, and Novavax’s VLP protein adjuvant vaccine

Of equal importance - it also says

"As a result of the pandemic, there is a global shortage in Fill-Finish capacity. This stage of the manufacturing process is critical to our ability to roll out a successful
vaccine in deployable doses. Identifying limited global supply of Fill-Finish capacity as a potential bottleneck in the manufacturing process, the VTF entered into an
agreement with Wockhardt in 2020 to secure Fill-Finish capacity for the UK over the coming year, including for the Oxford Astra/Zeneca vaccine which is currently
being fill-finished at Wockhardt’s facility in North Wales"

Fill and Finish was one of the big issues around the Swine Flu vaccine. It is very reassuring that this issue has been looked at early

Novavax have signed a deal to manufacture their vaccine in Germany for UK and European distribution. The results of the UK phase 3 trials (which at least three of us from NSC are on) are due imminently. The UK has ordered 60m doses.

Amex being used as a vaccination training centre, well played BHA, again. [emoji122][emoji122][emoji122][emoji122]

This weekend Brighton & Hove Albion's American Express Community Stadium will be used as a training centre for COVID-19 vaccinator volunteers who'll be trained by St John Ambulance to administer the vaccine across Sussex as new NHS vaccination centres come online.

Albion chief executive and deputy chairman Paul Barber said, “We are delighted to be able to help with the national effort to get the population vaccinated by providing several of our hospitality areas for socially distanced vaccination training for local volunteers.

“We have space inside the Amex for St John Ambulance personnel to safely deliver training to approximately 200 volunteers this weekend, who are then ready to go into the community to administer the vaccine across Sussex.

“We have been committed to supporting the NHS, St John Ambulance and other key healthcare workers in any way we can throughout the pandemic and as we start to see a light at the end of the tunnel, we will do everything we possibly can to support the national effort to get there.”

St John Ambulance regional manager Trevor Moss commented, “We have a number of new and existing volunteers who will be given extensive training; they will then be ready to support the NHS in the brilliant job they are already doing.

“The newly trained volunteers will be able to administer the vaccine, as well as provide support to people as they go through the process of a vaccination. Our aim is to have trained volunteers ready to help as those centres open across the county.”

Albion have continued to support the NHS and healthcare services in their effort to tackle the global pandemic.

In April the Amex was used as a mass testing centre, with capacity to test up to 1500 people per day; while the stadium and training facility have been used by the NHS for storage and training purposes.

During the first lockdown a significant five-figure donation was made from the Albion As One fund to NHS trusts across Sussex.

At the start of the crisis the club committed 1000 match tickets for NHS staff once the pandemic is over and it is safe for fans to return to watch football.

The 45,553 new cases being lower is good news, finally lockdown and the tier 4 restrictions in London and the East seem to be hyaving an effect. It is however 45,553 cases too high and we must all continue to do our bit and stay at home unless absolutely necessary for the next few months.

Good news for us, not good news for Europeans - and we certainly need them to be doing better to get things back to normal

Absolutely correct, but in the spirit of this thread it’s incredibly refreshing to see us getting such a crucial aspect of this pandemic right. Evidently, this isn’t a small or straightforward logistical challenge. Huge credit to all involved in this gargantuan effort.

I’m also confident that Europe will quickly get its act together on this front, too.
