That's because you didn't watch us under CH. That was the standard out/transition ball when we had Bruno and Knockaert on the right.

Playing the man again?

I don't recally that sort of attack under CH and I was there.

Not that it matters surely? ???

Fair enough.

What can't be argued is how good Mwepu's touch on receiving the ball, and subsequent assist, was.

What a player our Enock is.

Yup, great stuff. Anytime he recieves the ball I dont know whether he will go full non-league or do something world class with it, but usually more of the good than the bad stuff and that was excellent.

It was an excellent long ball wide, the sort that Dunk used to "quarterback" pretty much every game under CH. There are four touches between them playing a loose pass and us scoring.

It absolutely was not a hoof, it was a great pass, but it was forwards at speed and created the space with TheArse out of shape.

It's part of his game that is sadly missing now , well until today, but to be fair he did it because he was under pressure , not sure he would have done that had he had more time.

Would love to see him do this more..

Whilst the build up to the goals was sort of different what strikes me as being similar was that both final passes were perhaps 'unexpected' i.e. the pull back to Trossard rather than a ball into 6 yards and the pull back from Caicedo. Both strikers hit the ball well and on target and that of course helps massively.

I suggest you read https://nortr3nixy.nimpr.uk/show...raise-of-Lewis-Dunk-s-quarterback-style-pings

And look at the last post from AmexRuislip

Swansman doesn't have all our cultural references and yet pretends to educate us, If he was still doing it on conspiracy and vaccination instead of Potter it might not just be me mentioning it.

Edit - this is an example from "Graham time" so, to be fair, he should do. But Dunk played those passes routinely under CH.

I have to agree with GB that we did see Dunk do this a lot - not sure if I would go as far as 'standard' but he was much better at getting the ball forward than he has been under GP.

No one should forget the Sam Baldock goal against SWFC latching onto a brilliant pass from Dunk.

Why not just ban him if he's abusing his access? No point trying to school him. Consequently, the vendetta is getting tedious

Because he's done nothing to deserve a ban.

I don't agree with him and find him condescending and yet wrong. If I banned people from NSC for that we'd have a community of about ten.

Let's enjoy the win eh?

My point in the OP is that taking the lead with a fairly direct goal allowed us the freedom and lack of panic to put the second away. People are free to disagree with that all they want, but I'd prefer it was a disagreement based on fact.

As a side note we often seem to get three points when our xG and/or possession stats are worse than normal.

I think Trossard's goal is better.

Mwepu's touch and vision, a proper bit of movement and class finish. Training ground quality executed to perfection. Beautiful.

The second is good but has a bit more fortune to it.

Spot on

Dunks 'clearance' is rushed, but measured, he didn't just hoof it. THe difference at the other end is, rather than fast/slow and cut back/pass back . . . . We got intent, measured intenet, and a considered pass, with the time bought. . . . Fortunately (unlike last week) Maupay wasn't in the way to **** it up, and it got to the intended recipient, who passed it in perfectly.

2nd goal was the rub we've been missing, but well deserved., again, it had some intent, which makes a pleasant change. Great finish though . . . Confidence.

Last week we missed 8 or so easier but similar chances than we took today. Today is then dissected as different tactics/directness, but ultimately it was about 2 smart finishes that we inexplicably missed against Norwich. Hopefully finding the net proves a nice habit for the remaining 7 games.

No it has **** all to do with that, when I saw the goal I just got a distinct feeling of Dunk thinking "if I dont get this ball somewhere, the gazelle approaching me is going to take it and there will be tears". Looking at the replay, you could be right that it was intentional.

Fair enough.

I reached that conclusion because I've seen it happen many times before. That's all.

The only easier chance was the penalty and I would contend that the outcome would have been similar and being 1-0 up already would have lifted the pressure off the other chances / finishes against Norwich.

The rest of the time Grant Hanley and eight other yellow clad players were making those chances harder.

The point of the thread is that we scored first for a change and that we won as a result, and that it's easier to kick on when you have the confidence and cushion of the opening goal. But also that the first goal stemmed from quick transition. We don't have a lot of pace in the team but the ball always moves faster than the player anyway.

I was in the home end today... awful awful atmosphere- makes the atmosphere at the Amex seem like a cauldron of noise

The problem with all ticket games being that you can't just go in the home end and then tell plod or a steward that you "accidentally" went in the wrong entrance and get transferred to the away end.. Must have been a massive test of will at the final whistle with them grizzling and us going mad. I don't think I have the chutzpah to get away with that.
