I think it's unstoppable without that.

It really isn't unstoppable. The single, only thing that confirms Brexit is the exercising of notice under Article 50 and we can only do that when we have made a decision to do so in line with our own constitutional requirements.

So a manifesto has nothing to do with it. We simply have to be sure that when the notice is exercised under the article there can be no legal challenge under a constitutional basis from either Scotland or Northern Ireland. We also have to have some sort of plan ready for negotiations on exit terms as those will commence immediately.

Those terms - and the way we handle the devolved parliaments - could vary greatly depending on which of these leaders is elected. They all seem ghastly to me anyway, it's like asking me to pick the best meal from a meat-free, gluten-free, salt-free, joy-free menu.

Interesting. I'm not sure I can be bothered to swot up on the Tory leadership election process. That said, Gove is up to something, and I'd quite like to have an educated guess (or read an educated guess from someone else) as to what it could be!

Bozza is right about the Tory election process. And I think you're right about Gove. Why on earth would he only mention one other candidate -- especially when that candidature is yet to be announced?

Stephen Crabb is an interesting candidate. Born in Scotland, lived in Wales, bought up on a council estate. He has a strong belief in welfare (despite being a Tory) given his family survived on it for sometime. If Blair was Tory-lite, Crabb may well be Labour-lite.

Could have wide reaching appeal for those rejecting the elite, but unlikely the party will elect such a down to earth character.
