You've been warned! Reasonable, calm, unprovocative, considered, thoughtful, positive and insightful comments are like hens teeth on this board. This is no place for level headed comment! I ask you again, PLEASE LEAVE THE BOARD!

Indeed. The club are far from perfect but the, quite frankly, gobsmacking ingratitude of an increasing number of people is very, very sad. There are quite a number that actively try and seek a tiny sniff of controversy so they can jump on their soapbox to start ranting. Offer a free breakfast to watch the fixture announcements and watch the complaints because of short notice, poor quality food etc. Let kids camp on the pitch for a night to try and cement a few long term fans and it is tinpot/embarrassing. Price things at a point where they will sell well and maximise player funds and it more indications of Barber squeezing every penny/the club ripping off long term fans. Release new kits that are a bit formulaic but will fly out for kids/youngsters/brand name fans and you are selling out/sunday league. And spend over £200 million on a football club with little likelihood of seeing any of it back and then try and run the club with sensible finances and you will be invited to leave or declared as lacking ambition.

For what it's worth, I'm not comfortable supporting a biggish club in the mad money world of modern football when I'm essentially funding a couple of days salary of a squad player with my (significant to me) contribution. And I have a nasty feeling that the club will try and squeeze people like me out of 1901 trying to chase the corporate pound when renewals are announced next year. But I gain solace from the fact that, within these boundaries, the powers that be appear to be trying to run in the best way possible. Investing in the future and not massively overspending for a short term gamble. Trying to make the training environment the best it can be and insisting on high standards of behaviour from all that attend. They have made mistakes in the past but on the whole seem to try and learn from them. Player recruitment being the most obvious example. And there is a growing disconnect at times between the club and the fans but sadly that is the nature of modern football. But on the whole, their heart is in the right place which makes the haters all the more sad.

Totally agree...wise words.

Couldn't agree more.
So many negative people, particularly on here.

When you attract the highest average crowds in the division for 2011/12 2012/13 & 2013/14 with 3rd highest in 2014/15 then something is going right.

There are a few issues but they are minor.

The club don't want a repeat of last season and are now bringing in players. It's going to be a good season.

(Even if it isn't and we get relegated, it will not stop thousands and thousands coming back)

I agree with a lot of what you say however where I differ is that I'm not that uncomfortable about supporting a biggish club. I want to see us challenging for promotion and then playing on a bigger stage. I am not romantic about watching a Corinthian spirit if it means watching the Albion in the non league. When you play sport you strive to be better rather than just accept mediocrity. The Albion aren't perfect but, compared to many, are they better than most? The very people that tend to complain about commercialisation are quite often the same ones that then complain that we haven't spent much on players in the close season. As they say, You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Unfortunatlely Dick can and has bored me to death:moo: no way is he married/got kids/drinks------he pretends to be the ultimate middle aged Albion supporter but ultimately he could win a gold medal for not listening to other peoples opinions.
Very strange - I must be losing my touch as I had several goes at pointing out that I wasn't have a go at you other than one comment. And I'm fairly sure I mentioned that I preferred the early days of messageboards when it was a discussion of views rather than lots of white noise and people passing off their views as fact. I'm sure people can dig up a few examples of me doing that but on the whole, I have always tried to express my views as my views - apart from when there are hard facts that people are ignoring. And no, I'm not married or have kids but I have no idea what that has to do with the price of eggs. I'm as good as married, 44 and drink occasionally if that makes you happy. Anyway, I'll leave you an empty room to have an argument in as my attempted light hearted replies seem to have driven you to apoplexy.

I think you misunderstand me - my favourite season was travelling home away in 90/91. I don't want us to stay down so I can support the plucky underdog. I just hate all the money and what it has done to football and us being where we are, we have to be a part of it. I want us to go up as much as anyone but I will always be uncomfortable with the ludicrous sums of money involved.

Every time I read a post like this on NSC I'm always dubious. Dubious that what is being written is a small, small percentage of the truth. Luckily Insider has proved that on this thread - it's good for us and for the club to have him on here to explain things - hope the club realise this
