I was taken in by Bloom's hasty words that we will have a good squad assembled by the start of the season. If i knew now about our flimsy squad building back then...then i wouldn't have bothered buying a season ticket to watch us finish around mid table.
There's no panic over Falmer seating as there's plenty of seats to go around so that's not the issue.
I wish i waited now and cherry picked the tasty matches worth seeing.

Just the sort of loyal support we need... well done.

Why do all these conversations on here about players, unrealistic expectations etc remind me constantly of Chris Morris's dialogue with Alan Partridge about Farmers?

"You, you promised we'd sign six players by yesterday! The fans are wandering around thinking 'we're a big club, we demand new players!' they don't know what's going on."

"Yes, well that's why we're about to risk the financial future of the club and bust our nuts signing all of Man City's rejects etc"

"Really?!"

"No you complete Cretin!"

Look here! You're a big posh sod with plums in your mouth. And the plums have mutated & they've got beaks.

How on Earth can you predict which matches will be worth seeing?

Am I the only one who feels comforted by Gus not rushing into panic buys?

No, you're not alone. I'm quite happy to see what Gus can produce, If he deems the players appropriate. Afterall, he does still have 12(?) days. If he decides the right players are not available, well thats not prefect, but i can live with it. Better to have the right ones.

It is frustrating but i'd rather Gus gets the people he wants rather than just filling the holes for the sake of it..Every Gus siging so far (bar one) imo, has been better than what we already had. This needs to be applauded, as frustrating as it is for us, I bet Gus is pulling his hair out. Its just players keeping their options open, which im not sure is the sort of player we want anyway. That said something has got to give soon, it looks pretty thread bare squad, especially up front where I think we need two.

He is sure as hell struggling, that is for sure.

Very nervy as it really is the difference between play offs or not and yes the clock that started ticking end of may is ticking louder.

Just got to do what Gus is doing and hope something comes through

it's because those that do post "Gossip" on NSC get FLAMED when nothing happens !!!

hence people don't guess , and those that do know are either sworn to secrecy or don't post for fear of it going tits up

I am glad he is not panic buying we could just chuck a load of money away on a 20 goal a season frontman but it is not really worth it as he is not going to change from 4-3-3 and he is not going to drop Murray from the central role.

So now you are looking for a forward who will go wide and create chances as well as scoring a few and help out with the midfield which is going to be very hard to find, probably why it is taking so long

No, I really like the way Gus is handling things and have complete faith in him.:albion2:

Poyet: Picking players that fit into our way of playing, thus going to take a while to find them, and to see if they fit

Mancini: Pick big names with no pattern

Much rather have the former as a manager...and we do

Well some of you really should be a little concerned. The first team squad is wafer thin, and after watching the ressies last night, on one stood out as being ready for a regular starter for the first team. We have already lost Nav for most of the season so we are already a man down on a squad that GP himself said was not strong enough. A long term injury Murray and we are a bit f**ked. We have an excellent first team, which if it suffered no injuries or suspensions, would be pushing for a play off place, but bugger all in the way of quality backup. Obviously, we won't need to worry about a relegation battle this year, but I think we look as though we are now settling for a mid table, or slightly higher, finish.

I am a liitle surprised at the lack of progress to strenghten the squad, as I can't believe GP would have signed his extended contract if he knew his hands would be tied so tightly in the transfer market. He is a good manager and may even become a great one, but if he is ambitious, as he seems to be, he is not going to want to hang around a mid table league 1 side for too long, and while the first team is good, the overall squad is miles away from a promotion one.

Why does everybody think we can snap our fingers and suddenly players will come?

Because we're Brighton, super Brighton. We're Brighton, from the South?
Because we're going up to win the cup, for Sussex by the sea?
Etc.

The New Manager Bus
"We have not signed any new players this week but we are in good positions with a couple," he revealed. "I'm sure we will get three of four players in while the transfer window is still open.

"There is still plenty of work to do with every player because they are all in different situations, but I wouldn't be surprised if we got a player in before Saturday. It can happen at any time.

"Some clubs are not sure if they want to let the player go, and some signings are made difficult through money, so every player has got their problem.

"Also, we don't just want to sign a good player, we want that player to be suited to our team, and fit into our style of play. We want to bring in the right player for the club."
