Phil your chronological assessment of achievement ends in 2005 really nothing has been achieved since. Therein lies the answer, even in four years and at this level the game has moved on tactically. I mean did you see how quickly we were moving the ball about yesterday and how much the full backs supported midfield. Its a whole new ball game

Yup, can’t totally disagree, but 05/06 was not so bad due to our tactics, look at the squad we had to try and stay in that league, it was money, or lack of investment being available. I though the team and squad conducted themselves as best they could, regardless of manager. And don’t forget, finishing seventh in 07/08 was not bad, again considering we had a rookie manager, ably assisted, and another season of lack of funds to really build a great squad.

This is an opinion thing for some, I have just tried to level it out with the facts. DW and BB were instrumental in a reasonable amount of success at this club, possibly they were struggling, again I think that is a matter of opinion, how do we know it wasn’t Adams and Slade who were calling the shots over the past 2 season?

I agree, but you have to admit it is a double-edged sword. Quite rightly they should take the credit for a lot of our success; in the past I've made posts on here where I've said that Bob Booker was the greatest assistant manager ever. Also whenever we had a managerial change Knight used to insist that the new man worked with the existing backroom team. Nearly all of us on here thought that was the right thing to do as we were being successful (unbelivably successful given our circumstances) and we correctly attributed part of that success to the backroom set-up. And no, we DIDN'T know what they did - but we could see they were doing it well!

However if they WERE partly responsible for our success then by definition they must be partly responsible for our decline. Consequently whilst I'm obviously saddened that two club stalwarts lost their jobs I WAS pleased at the decision as in my opinion they were part of the problem in the same way they'd been part of the solution. Time will tell if I'm right of course.

Having met Bob Booker at the first Wycombe tie, which he attended as a fan in the week after he was sacked, I have the utmost respect for him. He said he would go with Russ to his new post and I wish him well. As we all know being a football supporter is full of ups and downs and, hopefully, we are now on another up. However, Bob has been present at many of our ups and deserves our respect and good wishes.
