[Albion] The Chicken Run......

The night we had a full house on an evening game against Sheffield Wednesday which we won 3-2 after going 1-0 down in the 1st minute. We needed the win to get promotion , someone had a small ladder and we climbed over the Chicken Run wall which was covered on the top with bits of broken glass. A policeman saw me but still helped me in.
Can someone give me the year as I've forgotten
1977. Wednesday had a fantastic following for the 1970s, a night match with nothing to play for and I think they had about 400 standing.

1976 Neil. The late great Stevie Piper scored that night. We had to wait until confirmation that Rotherham had failed if memory serves me right before we knew we were definitely up.

Sorry it was 3-2 in 77 not 76. There was something to play for though. 76 was when we failed narrowly during Peter Taylor’s tenure.

I think the “invasion” to kick Bellotti out of the directors box came from the chicken run ( so the chicken run made the chicken run - geddit?)

My memory is that there wasn't. Maybe you are getting them confused with Rochdale, who also needed a point in 1972.

The 1-1 was in 76 Notts. We had drawn with Aldershot on the Saturday after a 3-1 defeat at Millwall on good Friday. We had dead rubbers with Sheffield Wed and then Gillingham .

FFS you're talking as if I'm the one with the defective memory and need things explaining!
After being a year out on the 3-2, you're now FOUR years out on the 1-1 with Rochdale, presuming that's 'The 1-1' you're referring to - there have been no others mentioned in the thread.

Ffs I’m not talking about Rochdale you mentalist. That was Sawards promotion. I was a year out on the original quote . So were you.

First stand I went in as a kid. Walked up the steps and saw the pitch (coupled with my hot choc and wagon wheel before seeing the pitch), and have been hooked ever since. I "blame" my friends dad for this............Spoke to him only last week, and reminded him that it was his fault... :)

Indeed, remember it well, was where we stood for a few seasons before graduating to the North stand.

But I dont think I have ever know why it was called the chicken run, was it the wire fencing?
