So essentially if you don't mention their race you are basically saying you think the market has changed from people flogging knocked off gear to....people flogging knocked off gear? I don't understand.

Well, that's it, isn't it? The Racehill Market has always been thus.

in that regard the opening post seems quite clear the market has changed from people selling fruit and veg,old stuff and meat to dodgy knocked off gear today
read it again and you will understand

Actually yes, I stand corrected there.

This is why I don't fill out Census forms, or help the Police with their enquiries. It's impossible without being racialist.

Bought a vegetable peeler from the market in the early 90s, still used almost every day, best 50p I have ever spent... thought I would share that with you.

I never did like the fast lipped old school market traders, always something quite piss takey about them, quite smug and alienated the buyers rather than welcome them. Don't get me wrong I like your fruit and veg winky, bag rolling extra plum types but the proper Del Boys selling empty camera boxes and 24 piece sets of mixed crockery were proper scum. Don't like the new breed either. I guess what I'm saying is I don't like con merchants wherever they hail from.

Yes remember the market well and it was great back then and I also worked at reading market for years...Most market stalls now are run by Indians as I recall them buying the stalls and goods and contacts way back from the white traders.
Not an issue although I get your point in the old day Del Boy traders as it was what British markets were all about and the characters of these markets are dire now.

So you do go up there then?

As I said, I haven't been for years.

However, I used to live on Elm Grove, and went up quite often over quite a long period of time. Nice place to be in the sunshine, shitty market. I stopped going when the kids got to an age where it was no longer a drag to venture further afield.

The proper trade markets , Billingsgate etc have been ruined by the decline of unions. You don't need a union card to be a market porter now so the wages are now reduced and the stall holders hire immigrants willing to take less pay.
My god, this must send the right wingers into a spin, the very idea that a right wing ideal (no unions) is actually encouraging the employment of immigrants over white British. Confusing times.
