I wonder if it's Handcross HIll, in the Slaugham woods area on the A23.

It's all changed now but it wasn't somewhere to come down at speed because of the way it rose and dropped.

Ah gone are the days of a half cut father driving like a complete maniac just to try and make the kids sick, as they roam free in the back of the car.

All the while mother makes him act 10 times worse by screaming "stop it".

Happy dayz.

There is a stretch of the road to Guildford, that is a long straight, lined by trees which has a series of well defined humps . We used to go that way frequently and my Dad would always speed up as he went over them causing our stomachs to lurch as we went over the brow of each one. We called them the "Tummy Hills"

I think this is the A281, somewhere west of its junction with Stane Street (A29) and Alfold.

I too remember it from my youth (early 70s), it's on the route we used to take from Ringmer to my Grandparents in Warwick - H Heath/Horsham/Guildford/Bracknell/Henley/Oxford/Banbury.

Does that awful hump and dip still exist along Manor Hall Road at the county boundary - where the two sides of Sussex could never seem to match their road repairs?

I remember my mum grabbing the weel and straightening it as my father drove us home from Ditchling CC , I don’t know why I find it funny but he was blotto

I would agree with this between Clemsfold and Rudgwick.
