Comment from the BBC website:

The FA is like the LTA (on the 1st day of Wimbledon): organisations with stupendous funds which pay massive salaries to anonymous men in suits, and which achieve a total lack of international success. Both are essentially systems for taking shedloads of cash and either stuffing it in the pockets of superrich businessmen or pouring it down the drain.

To win an international competition for the first time since 1966 (FA) or the 1930s (LTA), both organisations should be wound up immediately. They are far more to blame for the laughing stock status of England/Britain in world football and tennis than any coach or individual player.

I remember listening to a foriegn coach talking about how the LTA dish out the money to tennis clubs. Apparently there is no reward for producing players. The money is carved up depending on the facilities of the club. So basically the money goes to the richest clubs regardless of how successful they are in producing players. He basically was surprised we produce any tennis players at all.

Well, if they only awarded clubs that produced decent players, they'd never give any money out at all. :lolol:

On a slightly related note, I read at the weekend that by the end of the World Cup, FIFA would have taken R25bn out of South Africa. Seems a tad excessive.

Omg!!! It's simply corruption dressed up as entertainment if that's true. Stunningly corrupt. Even more reason to hate slap blatter now

The last job I had in the UK was with a consultancy in London that was involved with the new Wembley stadium. It gave a stunning insight into how completely clueless the FA was when it came to any form of project management. But as they seem to be able to generate vast amounts of income, not because they are well managed but because they are in the happy position of being a monopoly, they did not seem too worried about the income they lost due to cost over runs and late completion. Bumbling baffoons is putting it lightly.

This isn't the article if you are interested, but is similar:

I have also read reports that if a street trader wanted to sell FIFA licensed merchandise etc, they had to pay FIFA a R25,000 license to do so and bars had to pay licenses to show the matches. Am not sure how true that is, but I would not be surprised.

But the real scandal is that they do not appear to be paying tax on any of their revenue in South Africa, which is disgusting if that is the case.

Those Swiss restaurants are expensive, though.

The original post reads even truer this morning. Before the FA sack anyone, they ought to disband themselves.
