It wasn't bad ..although the platters were made up then left to stand on top of the serving counter for a long time ...the cheese was a bit "crispy " round the edges and the chefs whites were pretty grey ......

You know exactly what my point is. Anyway carry on reading the guardian / independent, whilst berating 'cameron' then stick your X on the ballot paper and then renew your 1901 membership safe in the knowledge you've done your bit for the 'working classes'.

I don't want to assume or jump to a conclusion, so tell me your point and your reasons. Or have you simply got the hump because someone guessed £10 before you?

Law of averages suggests that before the season is over you will actually manage to post a picture the right way up...

And get the size right so we can see the whole picture and not spend half an hour scrolling round.

I just need to know if the ploughman's lunch was rustic or not?

Official title was "ploughman's platter" , so not. Sounds like it's made for the fancy farm workers Lord Bracknell mentions in his post.

Nothing's guaranteed to crush expectations quite like seeing the words "ploughman's" and "platter" on a menu. (Especially as the 'platter' element seems to have been replaced by a lump of old driftwood scavenged off the beach).

Ah, right, cheers, at least they had the decency not to call it 'lunch', though I guess they could have gone for 'ploughmans lunch reduction'

Deconstructed cheese sandwich?

I wonder if he didn't get the tricycle he wanted for Xmas and is taking out his frustration on this thread.

Oh dear resorting to insults because someone has had the nerve to challenge the great HT on here? As I've said to you before resorting to insults detracts from the validity of your arguements.

Yes I do I think you are a hypocrite, Labour voter but going in the 1901. Would've thought the 1901 would be at odds with your socialist principles? Surely the North stand would be full of more of your type of people?

My socialism is based on modern social democracy, modern democratic socialism but above all human wellbeing. Quite what this has got to do with me going in the North Stand I'm not sure. But I'm happy for you to explain.

I love this Season of Goodwill:)

I know. I was trying to amuse myself and a few others with a bit of Boxing Day fun and I get this (lazy and unimaginative I have to say) abuse.

Aha but surely the 1901 has loads of 'capitalist types' in there? Why would you want to be in there? Could you maybe not get a cheaper ST in say the north stand and maybe donate the balance to a homeless charity to help some 'human wellbeing? I expect Ed Milliband is an advocate of 'modern democratic socialism' as he opens the door to his 3m house in Primrose Hill!!! I expect your fully behind protecting the rights of the 'working classes' but mix with them?? Oh no!!! If you were a committed Socialist you wouldn't go anywhere near the 1901.

Is it just me or has the percentage of absolute raving lunatics talking incomprehensible bolox on here increased recently? This incoherent mess comes on like Major Misunderstanding in Viz but somehow even thicker. I blame Ukip.

What is incomprehensible about my post? I believe it makes perfect sense. Maybe it is 'incomprehensible' to you because you don't agree with what I'm saying? What is your rationale for calling me a lunatic? Are you questoning my mental wellbeing because you don't agree with what I'm saying? As for UKIP what have they got to do with it?

But as I have pointed out, I'm not against capitalism per se.
