Palace will overtake us by Xmas. And if they’ve had the worlds worst ever start to a campaign in history, it says something about our performances. #5newstrikersatleast

Huge win for palace that. Shaping up to be a very exciting relegation battle for the neutrals. Horrible for us.

4 points minimum needed from Burnley and Watford, could very easily be where West Brom are by Christmas otherwise

Palace will overtake us by Xmas.

Don't think they will.

Assume we lose tomorrow, then...

16/12 Albion v Burnley / Leicester v Palace
23/12 Albion v Watford / Swansea v Palace

If we lose both, they still need to win both to go above us (4 points would do, but would require a significant GD swing)

Boxing Day Sales then, but you get my point.

We played away against 10 men and didn't beat them!

Yes, but we put up a good show and only the woodwork stopped us from being ahead with it still 11 v 11. That was a good result at Vicarage Road. Palace have had a kind run of fixtures of late but there are harder games coming up - much harder. They were lucky tonight, very lucky. Go through their remaining fixtures and ask yourself how many points you think they'll get. Watford was probably their easiest remaining home game

They've then got:

Palace v Arsenal
Palace v Man City
Southampton v Palace
Palace v Burnley
Arsenal v Palace

Shit. They’ll be in Champs League position by Feb then,

This shows a very good point. League position, almost, means nothing as all the bottom half teams games against the top clubs are out of sync and can come in patches. This means you can shoot up or plummet down the league simply based on your fixture list.

Indeed. I made the analogy the other day that it's like a 400m race. You don't really know where you are until the stagger unwinds.

I like that analogy. We may have several bends to unstagger though!

A fair point but one that fails to take into account momentum. Palace have that going on now and have stopped losing. We seem to be on the cusp of adopting that habit.
