They just mentioned that story on News 24, apparently the garden and the canteen overlooking it will be granted grade II listed status...I was wondering if that is the first time a load of neatly trimmed bushes and a wet patch (pond) have had a preservation order slapped on them.

The BBC canteen -- of which I am a regular customer -- is a DISGRACE of a building. Anyone who considers listing it is a HEADMENTAL if you ask me. The BP garden is frankly not all that either, though I suppose it's an important part of BBC heritage. Besides, the remains of Petra the dog are interred there.

As far as the nation's heritage goes, it's up there in the same league as any memorial to Saint Diana Spencer.

Wanton vandalism is a crime, SIMEON, and no laughing matter at all. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Also, you should not have used the Thrower quote about MENTALLY ill youths. Not in this more enlightened age. There is absolutely no evidence that MENTALS are more prone to acts of wanton vandalism than other youths, or indeed drunken professional footballers.

I find your post nasty and unnecessary, and as such shall NOT be joining you in waving.

I see the BBC wish to secure a Listed status to protect it and the adjoining building.

Was it Sir Les Ferdinand that was 'involved' in the crime of the decade?

He later renounced any involvement in it.

The original story was he gave someone a leg up over the wall.
