How many here would be prepared to put in say £5 a month to keep your NHS going? I know I would because you know what enough money doesn't go in compared to what we all take out. No other country in the world offers the same service, in fact if you got ill in some of these other countries you wouldn't get any help at all. We keep hearing stories that the NHS is in meltdown and so on, it's need money and if the governement can't afford to put anymore in then it is down to us, and we should be charging people who have absolutely no legal rights to using this service in the first place. The Labour party can go on how the like about the NHS, but you know what, I remember my nan, and my dad also being stuck on trolleys under their government, and not being seen for 12 hours. Basically we pay or privatise the thing.

Instead of the government getting everyone to pay £5 per month, why don't they adjust tax rates and fund it properly. I take it you are aware that the money the government put in is our money!!!!!

And finally, no surprise that you managed to get a dig at illegal immigrants!!!

Of course, the failings of the NHS have nothing to do with our ridiculous expectations of wanting to be cured of everything and live until we are 200 years old.

Nothing to do with alcoholics, drug users, time wasters and hypochondriacs abusing our A. & E. departments in hospitals.

Oh....and absolutely nothing to do with the fact that much of the bed-blocking could be alleviated if we just took some responsibility for caring after our elderly relatives.

I understand that many of us want so much...and some things could be better organised. What I can't tolerate is scumbags like HerrTubthumper who climb all over this like a rash, just because they have a political agenda.

I really do think the NHS has to change but it isn't the straight binary choice as you suggest. It does need more cash though. The German system works very well imho. In effect every one has health insurance but for the vast majority this means a not-for-profit scheme which employers and employees pay into. In effect it's specific and ring-fenced income tax for health. And it comes as no surprise it's a lot more than we pay in the uk. But, the service is incredible.

Is my expectation that the NHS can cure people of being complete bell-ends ridiculous?

I am not too concerned as £380 million is heading the way of the NHS, I read it on that bus that the majority of people fell for so it must be true, all that money will come in very handy.

All services would run fine if they weren't run by money grabbing *******s, people still can't get to grips with this obvious fact.

You are one of lifes "nobodies". You have consistently backed the wrong horse whether it be politically or Brexit vote. You come on here, on a daily basis spouting utter shit. Your beloved Labour Party and that lifelong failure Jeremy Corbyn are not something new. They have been around for decades. They have had the chance to make the world a better place. Like all political parties, they have come up ...well short.

People like you, are why the middle ground are dis-interested in politics. We are sick and tired of the left and right talking shit to suit their own purposes.

Please....STFU and crawl back under the stone you came from.

The sheer scale of the lies from both of them shows how far politics has fallen. How can the NHS run as a 7 day a week operation on 5 day a week staffing is beyond me yet doctors and consultants are just expected to cope while having to make life or death decisions !

I just feel sad for this country, the older I get the more I notice the collapse of what I used to take for granted. The NHS struggles get worse, housing costs get worse, social care levels are cut and cut again at a national and local level and infrastructure slowly falls apart under the weight of usage and lack of investment. Rarely do we ever hear of improvements or expansion of anything, police numbers cut, crimes not investigated as deemed low level or " just one of those things " Prison officers recently have been in the news as their staffing levels have reached rock bottom
. Everything seems to be about " Saving Money " but, where does the money go that has been saved ? Most people only see a decline in standards and services across the years that can never be brought back...the list is endless.
Morning Update: The Post Office set to close Lancing and Shoreham Post offices in order to.. er save money. Also the head of Arun District Council set to receive a 6% pay increase to £120,000 pa....which I am sure will NOT be the percentage offered to council workers.

Less managers and more staff would help the NHS immeasurably - in fact that goes for virtually every business !
In terms of the current discussion - Jeremy Hunt has to be the worst. Grayling does run him very close but he is just completely incompetent,
Friends of mine were at university with Grayling and he was known to be a complete knob there too. Nobody is surprised at his inability to sort the rail crisis

Want to know what these rail strikes are really about? Well, here's Sean Hoyle, president of the RMT union, "Rule no. 1 in our [RMT] bible is that we must strive to replace the capitalist system with a socialist order".

A nobody; charming. I don't think my support of someone else's post warranted that.

It's refreshing to know I can get right under your skin so much and so early in the day

The fact you're so angry so early in the day says quite a lot about your general happiness and well-being. At a guess I'd say you're very bitter about something. Row with the missus? Only you know the real reason though.

Maybe it is Labour's shame that they are so utterly unelectable that twunts like these can continue with their astonishing levels of ignorance and incompetence whilst safe in the knowledge that they will still be in power for years.
