Fulham big? One relegation to the 3rd tier followed by a bad season ,their gates would drop to around 6000.If there ever was a plastic club it's them.

Their 27 years of top flight football since the war does give them a little credibility, wouldn't you agree? (We are talking heritage on this thread after all, not current form).

I'd say Fulham are the exact opposite of a plastic club. Tremendous old ground which they've modernised whilst still maintaining its character, a rich history, some truly world class players down the years, a decent fanbase which doesn't harbour delusions of grandeur. Sure their gates would drop if they found themselves bumbling around at the arse end of the third division, but then again, who's wouldn't ?

Well to be fair, the best supported team in the world (Pompey) haven't dropped to unmentionable levels.

Not really sure what relevance heritage has, doesn't seem to be doing liverpool much good these days.

They were averaging 19k in the top flight. Their average dropped to 15k in the Championship, and was down to 12k when they were relegated from the 3rd division. They're back up to 15k now that they've managed to stop stopped keeping getting relegated. Decent numbers for that level. Pompey are many, many derogatory things, but tinpot isn't one of them, I suppose.

Hmm. They averaged 24,500 in the Premier League. This season it's 15,000 with a season low of under 10k!
Plastic support, if not club.

Brighton are a bigger club now compared to some of the other clubs mentioned since the Amex was built.

What is the basis for a 'big club'? So many of these arguments manifest and everyone has a different point of defence/attack.

Support? Net worth? Heritage? Facilities? Silverware? Global fanbase? Great players who did/didn't move on?

If Brighton had the Amex 50 years ago, all those factors you mentioned would be higher.

I prefer to look to the future rather than the past.

I couldn't give a toss if we are labelled 'big club', 'little club', 'tinpot club', 'better than thou's club', 'JCL club', 'plastics club', etc., etc., ad infinitum. Childish name calling has no relevance.

Lets hope we can go undefeated.

2012-13 Pos: 4th

2013-14 Pos: 6th

It looks like winning five and drawing two would be about par. That equals 17 pts + 57 = 74. Still saving up for Wembley.
