[Albion] The Best Three Albion Games This Season?

The dull part of the south coast
This was a question my Albion-mad grandson asked me recently. He was referring to the matches that I’d seen and enjoyed the most. So, in a season of huge progress and a few blips along the way here is my selection :

1. Man Utd, 4-0 at home, by a country mile - nuff said!

2. Chelsea, both home and away, (I know, two for the price of one!). Our performance on both occasions was unbelievably good. For the first time in our history we actually matched, if not bettered, Chelsea’s quality.

3. Liverpool away. I took my grandson to this one as his BIG away day of the season and it ticked all the boxes. The weather on Merseyside was glorious sunshine. The Liverpool fans were friendly and complimentary before and after the game. The match? 2-0 down, almost 3-0 down, and looking to be stuffed and we showed no lack of courage, commitment and style to come back to 2-2, in fact it would not have been unjust if we’d won it.

Honourable mentions? Arsenal at the library winning 2-1 after our ‘we can’t hit a barn door’ spell, and Southampton at St.Mary’s. To equalise in the 98th minute had me in raptures. A real up yours to the Saints fans as I live only two miles from the stadium!

That’s mine. Yours? :drink:

Oooh. I'm only counting the games I actually went too which eliminates Liverpool & Spurs (A) in the EPL.
Man Utd 4:0 will go down in Albion history.
Arsenal away simply because we played so well.
Everton (A) or Chelsea (A) coming close together and seemed to start the whole 'away is best' run.

From attended :
Spurs away - the complete tactical performance and a late winner
Man U at home
Chelsea away - finally getting something there (honourable mentions though for Burnley and Arsenal away)

Same as many others who have done many but not all games:

Man U home (obvs).
Spurs away (great day all round, went with an old pal and my boy, jerk chicken and beer before, day in the sun, chat with Herr Tubthumper , best tactical performance I've ever seen from an Albion team, culminating in a late winner, probably caught Covid though :lolol: )
Toss up between Chelsea home (best other home performance) and Saints away (90 minutes of rubbish, HILARIO finish and we even got home)

I mean anyone not voting Man Utd at home is surely needing to be sectioned

For me, I'd add Spurs (A) and Leicester (H), the latter purely for the comedy factor

I genuinely believe the second half display at Anfield is the best I've ever seen.

In the context of the run of form Liverpool were on at the time - they'd just won 5-0 at Old Trafford and 3-2 at Athletico Madrid - it's hard to argue with that, even though the result was a draw.

Agree about Spurs. All the stars aligned that day to make it quite memorable: sunshine, lovely new stadium (for me anyway), pre-match jerk chicken from Rasta Man, friends, brother, your goodself, tactics, late winner, post match beers in Islington where the missus joined to listen to us droning on and on about what a great day and game is was.

I sometimes do question my Albion sanity but it's days like this which come along every few years or so, days which you cannot plan or script, which make it all worthwhile.

Man U is an obvious game.

And one game I wasnt at was Liverpool away......that 2nd half, as attila says, was superb and we could have won if it went on longer.

Brighton factually.....
1: Manchester United @ Home - world class.

2: Wolverhampton @ away - masterclass from start to finish, we were in complete control.

3: West Ham @ Home - We will end West Hams dreams of Europe and give a wonderful send off to Pascal & Bissouma -

United at home
Arsenal away
West Ham away - loved the atmosphere after Maupay's late late goal. Possibly slightly biased because my West Ham mate was giving it large on WhatsApp for about 85 minutes of the game until that moment then weirdly went quiet.

1. United at Home - 4-0
2. Spurs Away - 0-1
3. Arsenal Away - 1-2

Special mention for Brentford away (first away day back post-Covid, new ground in the gorgeous sun and a quick 15 min train journey home) and Palace away (or at least the last five minutes of it). Glad Norwich have gone though - 2 games I wish I could get back.

Those are of the games attended (didn't make Anfield for the first time in my life )

Agree with you but would swap 2 and 3 round. The second half display at Anfield was unreal.

On the Border
United (H) Chelsea and Tottenham (A)

Also enjoyed the first ever win at Everton, and Cardiff (A) as in Wales I got classified as a pensioner for the first time, still some time to reach that milestone in England.

No room for Liverpool and Arsenal (A) or other games

1) United at home. The difference in class between the two sides was akin to that when we beat Orient 5-0 the year we got promoted to the Championship under Poyet. I was almost cruel, but a joy to watch.
2) Spurs away. Let’s not forget Spurs were steamrollering teams until they played us. Our tactical plan was executed perfectly and we completely suffocated all channels to their attackers.
3) Chelsea away. We bossed a world class midfield and got a totally deserved equalizer WITH the run of play (against the reigning European champions).
