England DOES NOT have a national anthem. 'God Save the Queen' is the anthem of the United Kingdom.

Also Scotland does not have an official anthem, although 'Flower of Scotland' is the de facto anthem.

The inclusion of Liechtenstein in the poll was a nice touch. I like it as much as God Save the Queen :D.

Why isn't the USA in there? Quality anthem I think, even if we hear it too much!

My vote would go to New Zealand, haven't been able to get it out of my head since the 2005 Lions tour.

Aha, thats what happens when you try to check NSC in 2 minutes on your break.

Edit - meant to quote Icy Gull not me - same reason for mistake!

I find Australia's national anthem, "Advance Australia Fair" to also be quite appalling.

Yeah, as I typed it I thought of that.

I remember that won the popular vote to be the Aussie anthem - does make me wonder what the competition was like.

Really? I'm half Kiwi and have always considered God Defend New Zealand a dirge of the highest order!

It isn't very exciting, but there is something quite stirring about watching the All Blacks line up to sing it. Am I right in thinking there is one verse in Maori and one in English?

Quite like the Russian one, although it does have a certain retro feeling to it, when I searched on YouTube to remind myself how it went, I instantly found myself thinking of 1980s Olympic gymnasts, or Rocky movies

:lolol:

Ours sucks, by the way.

Ilike the italian one - it's the "It's a small world" of national anthems - once it's in your head, you'll never forget it!

I feel about it the same way. Similarly with Land of My Fathers.

Anything but the dire God Save The Queen
