The best national anthem

England DOES NOT have a national anthem. 'God Save the Queen' is the anthem of the United Kingdom.

Also Scotland does not have an official anthem, although 'Flower of Scotland' is the de facto anthem.

The inclusion of Liechtenstein in the poll was a nice touch. I like it as much as God Save the Queen .

My vote would go to New Zealand, haven't been able to get it out of my head since the 2005 Lions tour.

I can't think of any country apart from ours that has a dirge for a national anthem

Ours is the best by far. It should be a crime to slag off our "God Save The Queen".

At least ours sounds decent, all the others sound like tunes you'd hear at that weirdo's march in August that invades our city.

its the anthem for one or two others as well. The German one is superb but the best of all is the Russian.

It isn't very exciting, but there is something quite stirring about watching the All Blacks line up to sing it. Am I right in thinking there is one verse in Maori and one in English?

Quite like the Russian one, although it does have a certain retro feeling to it, when I searched on YouTube to remind myself how it went, I instantly found myself thinking of 1980s Olympic gymnasts, or Rocky movies
