I remember visiting cardiff arms park in the late 70's and thought it was amazing

it had it's own unique identity, something some new stadiums lack

i might be being bias here, but i think the amex has that also

Cardiff in the 80s was something else for atmosphere too; intimidating to say the least!

Good on the OP for taking the time to come here and be eloquent.

I think we'll both be up there come the end of the season, If I had one criticism of your play it would be that you don't seem to be that clinical upfront? Correct me if I'm wrong.

No, you're very right.

No, you're very right.

I'd say you have plenty of options from the wings, maybe you need a more physical presence upfront as a plan B. Not sure if that would suit Poyet's playing style though ???

Thanks Cardiff fan! Perhaps you could write a positive review on footballgroundguide as everyone in there just seems to moan about transport!

Thanks for coming and thanks for posting, it is always nice to hear that others have enjoyed themselves especially if they have done so without taking all 3 points. Would like to know your comments on travel and prices, it is what we are used to so an outsiders view would be nice

Thank you for the kind words Cardiff Lad, we are glad you enjoyed your trip. FWIW I thought the Bluebirds looked very sharp going forward and we were fortunate to not go behind very early on. There is a lot of talent on your team and on that performance I would expect you to be in the top six yet again at the end of the season.

The OP reads like a bogus message from a Brighton fan... very hard to believe that an away fan could be so impressed by what was The Amex running at about 50% of it's real atmosphere...

If genuine, then for the visitor's information, night games at The Amex have so far always seemed to start with a pretty flat atmosphere and this was compounded on Tuesday night by Cardiff completely bossing the first quarter of the match so that Albion fans had little to shout about and plenty of concern...!

Thanks for the replies, to be honest its been a very long, stressful summer for most concerned with our club. Personally its not the red that's worrying, its the fact that the owner of our club has been able to make these drastic changes, and no-one has any power to stop him. I hope for football's sake that this is a one off, otherwise football is in trouble more than ever before. For me I'm against the red, but it won't stop me supporting my football club

Be careful. We thought that in 1995! And look what happened!

as to the game, I think you should look on that as a missed opprotunity for an away win. We weren't very good, especially in the first half.

Hi all, Cardiff fan here. For me, last night was worth the eight hour journey just to see your new ground up close. I was expecting it to be similar to Leicester's or even the Cardiff stadium, how very wrong I was. It was fantastic. The exterior was pretty much exquisite but the inside was something else. I loved the way it seemed to hold atmosphere, especially for the first ten minutes, I can imagine if the ground was full for a bigger game that it would be deafening.

I've never liked our new ground, it just seems to have no personality to it, its the definition of a 'flat pack' new stadium, and I'd always thought that's just the way new stadiums are these days. 'The AMEX' completely crushed that theory for me. I loved the way the singing 'bounced off' the rest of the stadium creating an effect that sounded incredible from where I was, It also had a personality to it, that many like ours lack.

I was disappointed with our support last night, not in terms of numbers but we didn't really add to the atmosphere. The tickets were a bit expensive I thought, but it was definitely worth it as far as I'm concerned. As for the game I thought you were the better team over the 90, but we probably had the two best chances through Helguson and Velikonja. Your wingers were very threatening throughout, and had you brought on Vicente a bit earlier I think you would have nicked it. CMS' work-rate was very impressive as well. I think we'll both be up there come the end of the season, If I had one criticism of your play it would be that you don't seem to be that clinical upfront? Correct me if I'm wrong.

All in all a very enjoyable trip and I was pleased with the point at a difficult place to go. Good luck for the rest of the season (apart from against us) you seem to be a well run club. Top fans, top ground, top manager, Friendly stewards :clap2:

P.S Very nice cheerleaders, much nicer than Palaces'

Thank you for your good report. I'm so pleased you enjoyed your visit. I also wish you well for the season(apart from our game).

Out of interest, how did you get here and was it a pain in the arse or no worse than other grounds?

I got there by coach, so for me it wasn't difficult at all. I know a few who travelled by train and they said it was a bit more difficult than they thought It'd be, but not a lot worse than other grounds. The thing that surprised me most was how far the ground seemed to be away from everything. I was expecting it to be away from the city but I thought there'd be some other restaurants or shops nearby. On the other hand the fact that there wasn't any of this made the stadium the focal point of he area, which it obviously should be.

While it's excellent to read such a good report from a visiting fan, it's very likely that most will still be missing the real Amex difference. Which is a shame.

Everwhere else, away fans are conditioned to being confronted by hostile stewards, confined to pigpens serving rubbish food and gassy beer, then frogmarched out to the station minutes after the final whistle.

It'll take some time before Amex visitors realise they can stay on for a couple of hours if they want, mingle with home fans at any of the stadium's concourses, or sit down for a bite and a beer while watching post-match highlights at the East Stand Brasserie or Dick's bar.

The visiting fans I've taken to either of those places have been blown away by the facilities, and the welcome on offer. In time, other stadiums will become like this… or will they?

Gulliver's Travels,

I think West Ham's ground would need to be demolished and started again to accomplish anything
like we have. The under stand facilities/space for away fans is a f*****g disgrace.

Fair play for the Cardiff Fan coming on here. I honestly believe that there are some great fans out there as well as some bloody idiots.

This gentleman is one of the good guys, and i wish that we had more like him.
