"Popped" in to Asda Ferring this morning after a 25 minute queue, beer section much denuded so settled for a case of Cider, case of Kronny 1664 a few bottles of vino and a bottle of gin and some Tonics.. Might have to order that 5L keg from Dark Star twice a week. Official line is that alcohol sales went up 22% in the last month so be prepared for disappointment .

Duty isn’t that much difference I don’t think. Brewdog did a write up that basically said it uses the same amount of hops but a longer process / more waste. I’ll see if I can find it

I call bullshit on that. If my maths is correct duty alone would be 32p-ish per 330ml can.

My go to beer in Germany have even done the brewery tour which is a magnificent setting built in its own deer park not too far from the Möhnesee (of Dambuster fame).

On a beer preference I am another one who very much supporting local beers of which we are spoil in the Horsham area.

English Beer.
Many countries have a good couple of beers, but for sheer variety of types and quality brewers, nowhere come close to England.
I cannot even say why type I prefer, as it depends on my mood, the weather, or lb if I'm drinking with food.
But if I were pressed to choose even my favourite type, I'd say a hoppy IPA, followed by a chocolatey Porter, and then perhaps a ruby type Bitter.
Hundreds of ales of quality and finesse,l I try to buy different types and variety on each occasion, because my popping out for a quick gallon days are long gone, to be replaced by slow mindful appreciation.

PS. Nothing beats a Weissbier, when I'm tempted on a nice summer night.

It's nice but nothing compares with the 'Chinook' ridden Punk IPA IMHO...Love it me!


There's also a Portland Oregon IPA called 'Asteroid' which is seriously fabulous, if a tad strong at 7.4% ABV!

If I’m in the mood for something OTT then Omnipollo is my go-to, especially their stouts. I can recommend a half of their Magnus Opus Bourbon barrel aged cinnamon pecan mud cake stout with toasted poppy seeds, charcoal and cold smoked bacon.

Had their Noa pecan mud cake stout over xmas 11 percent £9.50 a half from The Holy Grale in Durham .
