noone in modern music has been close in my opinion, though on personal taste i have always preffered floyd/zeppelin/kinks/hendrix over the beatles. just more my thing. again they were bloody excellent though.

in terms of innovation and bringing experimental sound into the mainstream, radiohead do a good job. and like i say, better than most of their peers.
