After 4 years on the main board, I quite enjoyed the history of people's ever changing views and opinions on the Brexit thread (in case anybody hadn't noticed), but given the amount of race fishing threads which were constantly being posted on the Main Board, then I think the Bear Pit was the way to go, even if it meant sacrificing the Brexit thread

Although, as pointed out above, the Brexit thread is still there if anyone wants to go over to the Bear pit and highlight some benefits

And besides, Football's back

You’re just gutted that only 12 people will ever get to see your views on the Brexit thread, I fully expect you to shamelessly plug it here on the main board though [emoji6]

Think it will reduce traffic to NSC, but that's the decision of the website owner

It might draw in more traffic over time. Two mates of mine (not party political at all or rabid Brexiteers/Remainers), have returned to NSC in the last week, purely because the domineering politics has disappeared.

We might engage in political chat, but most people imho find it a bore, especially when 24-7.
Bozza's made a sensible move.

Tory haters, nationalists, racists and homophobes can get their fix in the Bear Pit, Twatter, Facebook or newspaper comments sections.

I like it, but wonder if it was necessary... think football being back might perhaps made the change a bit redundant.

Wouldnt surprise me if the bear bit died a slow, natural death though (when attention seekers and provocateurs realise that they are now alone) and then the question is if thats the end of political discussion here or if it moves back to the main board.

I hope you're not confusing Tory Haters with totally incompetent Government haters. I've voted Tory at a few elections but never voted for a totally incompetent Government

Hi, not at all. I've voted for several parties myself and for example I think Jendrick should resign (even though Labour aren't calling for that ... yet).

You're very clear in your views, but imho you don't across as a 24-7 miserablist and party political obsessive. There's a charm about you :lolol: and you always post across a wide range of subjects.

The bottom line, I think, is that the Main Board and New Posts webpages were taken over by threads started by both sides, very entrenched, never a mm given, insults traded and it gave airtime to the snide racists. The community was unable to police itself with balanced critiques and replies. Making it a big NSC turn off for the many others who don't want politics and negativity in their faces.

I think you're right. Or it could take off again once the shock of Bozza's move passes.

Political discussion is still ok on the main board so long as the protagonists behave. The issue is that the threads are normally taken over by the same small group of people who get a kick out of derailing them. The threads are still available once moved to the Bear Pit in any case, but our current data suggests they're not actually that popular.

Was against it, but now completely supportive, but I do agree that football coming back would probably have done the job anyway.

It is LONG overdue that the moderators did something about the vile abuse and racism/sexism etc on this board. It had got to the point it was embarrassing. You all laugh about Burnley "fans" flying racist banners but do nothing about it on your own doorstep. So thanks Bozza.
Still, would be better if the racists were just banned

You missed off ageism .... can't think why

I agree. It’s depressing when my objective, informed, reasoned, balanced, measured and constructive political observation and comment routinely gets shouted down by loud mouthed Brexit and Tory morons.

I think I’ll now stick to updating you all on over-priced food and drink.

Wasn't there an intense bout of gardenism around about the end of April?

Only Tories have gardens .... surely that means the Gardeners Question Time thread should be moved to the Bear Pit ?
