Appalling what’s going on there. 1 billion in debt can’t register new signings as already over the wage budget for this season so they need to get rid of 170 million worth of wages. There could be bargains a plenty to have out of their academy

I saw this morning on BBC Sport that Bale is possibly giving up club football when his Madrid contract expires next year. 600k a week he’s earning

Wasn't there controversy years back, it probably still goes on, where Barcelona and Madrid councils sold cheap land to the football teams (Barca and RM) who then sold it on for a fortune to developers and pocketed the profits? Cannot stand either of them, any club who is £1bn in debt needs to be liquidated and relegated 8 divisions.......


Don't forget also Manure are allegedly over a billion pounds in debt due to loans and the owners questionable accounting practices.

Years ago RM sold their training ground as it was prime real estate. The sale cleared their debts and they were 'gifted' cheaper land out of town. They built the training centre and then simply racked up the debt again.
In Spain its customary for the clubs to handle the players income tax affairs as part of their contracts, hence Bale clears around e350k a week, but his gross salary is circa e600k.
A bollocks up of contracts years ago bankrupted Johann Cruyff, as Barcelona had failed to pay(or write into his contract that they would pay) his tax, and he got stiffed for the bill.

Their last two presidents (before Laporta took over again in January) created this mess... simply spending money they didnt have. Their crisis was always going to come and the covid shutdown of their 98k stadium just made it happen a year or two earlier.

A lot. But Messi makes up for it through sponsorship contracts, merchandise and so on. He is not the issue, they could actually be in a worse seat if he left. However there is about 20 other massive transfers that has costed them a lot more than they've got. Just look at Coutinho, with clauses they've now paid about £150m for him while getting very little in return.

You're correct in a way. If Bale were on 600,000€ a week then that would be his take home. All taxes etc would be paid by the club on top of that. It's why many overseas workers, when promised £10 an hour, wonder why they end up with £7.50.
