Good stuff, a proper brass band would have been better though.

The best music I've heard since we've been back. Beats all the crap they churn out on the lousy speakers. Sussex By The Sea was played as it should be.

At Twickenham and Wembley they have overhead mikes for the band (on tall stands) so they can be relayed through the PA system.

Yesterday's pre-match performance and centenary celebration of Sussex by the Sea by the Christ's Hospital Band was the first appearance by a live band at an Albion game since the 1960s.

A pedant writes... Not true. A jazz band played in front of the West Stand at the Goldstone one Saturday in 1977/8. The drummer was a man called John Muxlow (who used to play with the legendary Harry Strutters Hot Rhythym Orchestra for those with long memories). He's a lifelong Albion fan and he refused to take a fee for appearing as he said the Albion had given him so much pleasure over the years.

Anyway, carry on.

okay, okay... how about first appearance by a live BRASS band since the 1960s? And yes, I know the Haywards Heath Town were a Prize SILVER band...

Could not really hear it in South Stand. Sussex by the Sea drowned out by cheering fans and the band faced the North Stand. Shows what rotten acoustics Withdean has.

Still preferred it to the stuff that is played over the PA system.

Good, but would have been better if we could actually hear Sussex by the sea.

Clearly nobody was fussed about the band, as everyone clapped the players onto the pitch

Slade played in front of the North Stand prior to a game vs Burnley. I think it was around 78-79ish. They were making a video for a new single....which was shit btw.

Bloody superb and being ex CH very proud to see my old school band there.

Should be an annual event
