Today finally, after some three months, The Daily Express has acknowledged that we are actually having a mild, wet winter ! They have finally run up the white flag after 3 months of predicting the " Coldest winter for 40 years ", at last someone has actually looked out the window. Rejoice !

what's the outlook Papa. bored of wind and rain

To get a proper easterly lots of factors have to fall into place. probably 3/4 of those factors are there, but sadly the Azores High is too close to us, which stops the low pressure systems from sliding to to our SE, so the flodd gates can't open.

Since this thread started this has to be the worst winter ever. A complete snow no show. Not giving up on it yet, but it does look like there will be no snow giraffe this winter.

What's ECM like this morning? Also is that cold air from east or north west? Sorry on phone, cheers Papa.

Funny you should ask, the ECM has an Easterly at a week out also. As Sherlock would say, the game is on.

According to the BBC, back to 10C and sw's end of week. Still westerly and 8C until then. I can't remember in 40 years of following the weather by late jan the lowest daytime max was 8C.

Many of the winters between 1991 and about 2007 followed this path, with persistent W / SW / NW winds.
